Position Summary
Containers on Demand is seeking a dedicated Yard Technician / Driver to join our team. This part-time role combines yard maintenance, container assembly, and local delivery duties. The Yard Technician / Driver will perform various tasks related to maintaining the yard, including mowing, trimming, and organizing containers, as well as assisting with the delivery and pickup of containers to customer locations. A CDL license is preferred (but not required), and the position involves local driving with no over-the-road travel.
Key Responsibilities:
Yard Maintenance & Container Management
- Perform regular maintenance of the yard, including mowing, trimming, weeding, and cleaning to keep the area neat and organized.
- Assist with building and assembling storage containers, including framing, welding, painting, and installing necessary components.
- Move and organize storage containers within the yard using forklifts or other equipment.
- Carry out basic maintenance and repair tasks on storage containers, including rust removal, patching holes, and ensuring structural integrity.
- Inspect storage containers for cleanliness, damages, and proper functionality, and report any issues that need further attention.
- Assist drivers with loading and unloading containers, including working with outside haulers.
- Keep common areas, walkways, and storage spaces clean and safe for all personnel.
- Perform minor plumbing, carpentry, and other general repairs as needed to maintain containers.
- Operate basic hand tools and equipment required for yard work, container maintenance, and container assembly.
- Assist with receiving and organizing new storage containers or equipment deliveries.
Driver/Delivery Duties
- Drive company vehicles (local deliveries only) to transport containers to and from customer locations, ensuring timely, safe, and accurate deliveries.
- Deliver and pick up containers at customer sites, following delivery instructions and ensuring customer satisfaction.
- Ensure all vehicle maintenance is performed, including checking fluid levels, tire pressure, and general cleanliness of the vehicle.
- Maintain a clean driving record and adhere to all local traffic laws and company safety standards.
- Assist with loading and unloading containers for deliveries and pickups, working closely with team members to ensure safety and efficiency.
- CDL (Class A or B) preferred, but not required. Local driving with no over-the-road travel.
Requirements
- Valid driver's license (CDL preferred but not required).
- 1-2 years of experience in yard work, equipment handling, or maintenance is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow safety protocols.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) and perform physical labor outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Forklift experience is a plus but not required (training available).
- Customer service skills and the ability to interact professionally with clients during deliveries.
- Clean driving record and the ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
- Basic mechanical skills for general repairs and container maintenance.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a part-time role.
