We are seeking a dedicated Material Handler to transport and distribute yarn to knitting machines using a pallet jack, dolly and/or forklift in our textile manufacturing facility. This role ensures efficient material flow and supports production schedules.
Key Responsibilities:
- Transport yarn to knitting machines using Polly or forklift.
- Ensure yarn is delivered to correct machines and placed in designated areas.
- Organize and maintain yarn storage areas, ensuring proper storage techniques.
- Ensure proper labeling and handling of yarn types and quantities.
- Conduct regular stock checks and report discrepancies to supervisors.
- Operate forklift and Polly to move materials within the facility.
- Perform pre-operation checks on forklifts and material handling equipment.
- Follow all safety protocols and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Assist with inventory management and document yarn usage.
- Collaborate with production staff to understand material needs.
- Report any material or equipment issues to supervisors.
- Maintain clean work areas and perform light maintenance on equipment.
- Identify and resolve material handling issues as they arise.
- Suggest process improvements to increase operational efficiency.
Qualifications:
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Experience: Previous material handling experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
Skills:
- Forklift and pallet jack operation.
- Basic understanding of textile manufacturing (preferred).
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to lift up to [insert weight] pounds.
- Certifications: Forklift certification required.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift, stand, and bend for extended periods.
