We are currently working with a Naples construction company that is recruiting for a Senior Accountant


OVERVIEW:

This is administrative accounting work performing a variety of complex accounting tasks. The Senior Accountant will apply principles of accounting in the analysis of financial data to reconcile accounts, verify the accuracy and completeness of general ledger data, prepare adjusting journal entries, maintain fixed asset records, compile financial statements and grant reports, assist with processing biweekly payroll, and assist in preparing annual audit schedules. Work shall be performed in compliance with GAAP standards and company financial policies. The Senior Staff Accountant role requires the exercise of discretion and independent judgment. Performance is evaluated through observation, feedback, and results obtained.


Examples of Essential Duties

  • Reviews, interprets and applies GAAP, financial policies that govern accounting, and financial reporting.
  • Assists in the development, documentation, implementation, and administration of accounting procedures including those related to internal control, Inter-company accounting, work-in-process and percentage of completion, year-end close, annual audit, and financial reporting.
  • Reconciles general ledger accounts to ensure their accuracy and completeness.
  • Works closely with other departments to ensure the accuracy of the data being imported to the general ledger from the designated subsystems or processes.
  • Researches and analyzes general ledger account activity to provide an explanation for the balance and variances upon request.
  • Prepares thoroughly documented journal entries to general ledger accounts.
  • Works with the team to develop training materials and provides training in the financial system(s) as necessary.
  • Assists in maintaining the chart of accounts, including the setup of new accounts and projects.
  • Develops and maintains custom financial reports within the company's financial system.
  • Reconciles bank account balances and activity to that of the general ledger.
  • Assists with the preparation of monthly cash reporting and forecasting.
  • Maintains inventory of fixed assets for insurance
  • Maintains accounting records for fixed assets, including preparation of year-end audit
  • Ensures all month-end closing processes occur on a consistent basis
  • Assists in review on a consistent basis of trial balance to ensure that all balances have been reconciled, are accurate, and can be explained.
  • Performs necessary research, reconciliations, and analysis to assist in the preparation of year-end adjustments and accruals.
  • Assists in annual audit by preparing requested schedules and reports, as well as providing explanations of supporting material as needed.
  • Assists in the preparation of year-end financial statements.
  • Assists in the development and preparation of periodic cash flow.
  • Assists in the preparation of the fiscal year budget.
  • Attend meetings and educational seminars as needed.
  • Performs other duties assigned as related to the job.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in accounting, finance, mathematics, business, or related field is required.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in accounting and financial reporting in a construction environment is required.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of principles and practices of financial administration, including financial reporting and analysis.
  • Knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
  • Knowledge of Integrated financial system software, specifically Quickbooks Online (QBO).
  • Knowledge of inter-company accounting.
  • Knowledge of accounting for construction work-in-progress and percentage of completion .
  • Knowledge of general and accounting-related computer applications such as Excel, Word, Access, and PowerPoint.
  • Skill in the issuance, understanding, and receipt of both oral and written instructions and effective communication using language that is appropriate to both the complexity of the topic and the knowledge and understanding of the audience.
  • Skill in creating correspondence and writing.
  • Ability to generate complex financial reports.
  • Ability to generate accurate, concise variance analysis.
  • Ability to evaluate complex fiscal problems and develop sound courses of action.
  • Ability to prepare, examine, and verify financial documents.
  • Ability to exercise tact, discretion, and independent thinking.
  • Ability to appropriately maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff at all levels in the organization.

Position is in-office M-F.

Salary : $70,000 - $85,000
