What are the responsibilities and job description for the Engineering Intern position at Contemporary Controls?
Position Summary: Contemporary Controls is seeking an intern to perform, a variety of routine technical tasks to assist engineers with electronic systems; testing; troubleshooting, and prototyping. In addition will set up and perform software and hardware testing of the company's products and perform other job-related duties as determined and assigned by management.
Location: Downers Grove, Illinois
Approximate Duration: 12 months, flexible 20-30 hours per week to accommodate school schedule, hourly pay, no additional benefits.
Essential Role Responsibilities (with or without accommodation):
- Assist engineers with assembling electronics subassemblies for prototype models from schematics, rough sketches, and verbal instructions.
- Perform validation testing and evaluation of new products including hardware and software functional/feature tests.
- Conduct routine engineering tests and detailed experimental testing, solving mechanical or electronic problems involved in the operation of product under engineering supervision.
- Document and share test results with engineering design team.
- Assist with general laboratory work and help production personnel with new product rollout and test procedures.
- Set up and repair test computers. This includes loading operating systems and test applications, and anything else required to test software and hardware systems.
Requirements:
- Two years of technical training and concurrent pursuit of a bachelor's degree in electronic/electrical/electromechanical engineering or equivalent.
- One to two years of related experience a plus.
- Ability to use electronic theory and basic machine tools and to work from schematics and rough sketches.
- Ability to set up, repair and use computers.
- Detail-oriented with strong written and verbal communication skills.
