Job Title: Scaffold Carpenter
Job Summary
The Scaffold Carpenter is responsible for the assembly, installation, and disassembly of scaffolding systems in support of industrial construction and maintenance projects. This role requires a high degree of safety awareness, physical strength, and knowledge of scaffold design and regulations. Scaffold Carpenter works closely with the Site Supervisor, Project Manager, and Safety Manager to ensure scaffolds are safe, secure, and compliant with all relevant standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Scaffold Assembly: Build, erect, and install scaffolding systems based on blueprints, drawings, or instructions given by supervisor/foreman.
- Scaffold Disassembly: Safely dismantle scaffolding after completion of the project or when it is no longer needed.
- Material Handling: Transport, load, and unload scaffold materials like pipes, frames, boards, and fittings. Ensure materials are stored properly to prevent accidents and damage.
- Inspection and Maintenance: Perform routine inspections on scaffolds to identify defects or hazards. Conduct repairs as needed to maintain safety and functionality.
Experience
- Previous experience as a scaffold builder or in a related construction role preferred. On-the-job training provided.
Skills and Certifications
- OSHA 10/30, Scaffold Safety preferred (required for some projects depending on local regulations or site requirements).
Work Environment
- Mainly outdoors and on industrial job sites, which may include exposure to weather conditions (rain, heat, cold). Work is often conducted at height, requiring strict safety precautions.
- Potential exposure to hazardous materials, loud noises, extreme temperatures, etc.
- Protective Equipment: Hard hat, leather gloves, steel toe boots, and goggles provided by the company are the basic PPE. When working at heights, harness and self-retracting lifelines are also required.
Mental and Cognitive Demands
- Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy to ensure that scaffolding is structurally sound and compliant with safety standards.
- Technical Knowledge: Knowledge of scaffold design, erection techniques, and various scaffold components. Familiarity with safety standards, building codes, and environmental regulations.

- Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with team members and supervisors. Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions.
