Position Overview:
ContextGlobal,Inc. is seeking an enthusiastic, compassionate, and dedicated Educational Aide to support a blind student 1:1 in an inclusive and supportive learning environment. The Educational Aide will work directly with the student to provide assistance with daily activities, classroom tasks, and instructional support under the guidance of certified teachers and other school staff. The ideal candidate will be committed to fostering an inclusive environment that empowers students with visual impairments to reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist blind students in navigating the classroom, school grounds, and other facilities.
- Support the implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs) and adaptations for students with visual impairments.
- Provide direct support during classroom lessons, including assisting with written materials and ensuring students can access learning materials in accessible formats.
- Aid in the use of adaptive technology and tools, including Braille, screen readers, and other assistive devices.
- Offer one-on-one or small group support to help students complete assignments, stay organized, and participate in class activities.
- Foster independence, encourage self-advocacy, and support students’ social and emotional development.
- Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and other support personnel to ensure the educational needs of students are met.
- Participate in regular training and professional development to stay updated on best practices in supporting blind students.
Qualifications:
- Experience working with students with disabilities, particularly visual impairments, is preferred.
- Familiarity with Braille, assistive technology, or the ability to learn these skills is a plus.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain patience, empathy, and a positive attitude while working with students.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
