Summary
The Learning & Development Specialist is responsible for creating, editing, and facilitating internal and external learning content that delivers impactful and meaningful training and development to our teams and customers. This individual will work closely with subject matter experts to ensure course content and delivery meets the needs of targeted audiences in an efficient and measurable manner. The Learning & Development Specialist is skilled in curriculum development, developing assessment tools, and gamification, as well as knowledgeable in facilitation and interpersonal communication. This team member should also consistently demonstrate solid organizational skills, time management, and professionalism.
This position is based in Phoenix, Arizona, Denver or Grand Junction Colorado. Our strategic flexibility allows for local work from home opportunities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Act as primary facilitator for external participant training
- Support multiple program development projects simultaneously while adhering to deadlines
- Support training initiatives for various departments and stakeholders using a variety of delivery methods including Computer Based Training (CBT), job aids, user guides, in person or remote facilitation, and one on one sessions
- Utilize video creation tools such as Articulate and graphics software such as Adobe Photoshop, simulation software, and audio/visual technology, where appropriate, to produce professional and effective training materials
- Develop learning content including storyboards, narratives, and presentations based on learning objectives, subject matter expert interviews, policy, and content recommendations
- Maintains templates and adheres to standards for consistent course development and delivery (e.g., instructor evaluation processes, standard course content, development methodologies) including Articulate and SCORM
- Support, troubleshoot, and publish content for the Learning Management System (LMS)
- Support Learning and Development administration activities associated with training delivery as assigned
- Apply adult learning theory and concepts through program content and delivery
- Demonstrate professional and appropriate interpersonal communication with staff of all levels
- Work with Manager of Learning and Development to manage all aspects of curriculum development projects, requirements and prioritization, testing, documentation, implementation, and support
- Performs other related duties as assigned

Skills
- Thorough understanding of adult learning theory concepts and the ADDIE model
- Comprehensive understanding of SCORM and other usability standards
- Proficiency with the development and deployment of curriculum for adult learners with varying skillsets with measurable results
- Experience creating storyboards, user guides, and job aids
- Experience working with subject matter experts (SME) and stakeholders to develop accurate, relevant content, including demonstrated facilitation skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic, deadline-driven environment
- Advanced understanding of Microsoft and Adobe products
- Good organization skills and time management skills; ability to be flexible and solve problems
- Strong proof-reading skills to produce error-free documents and videos
- Excellent computer skills including experience with computer-based training software and current E-Learning tools using Articulate, and LMS (Learning Management System)
Education/Experience
Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in designing, building, and deploying e-learning and other standard format training modules; creating computer-based training, learning decks, facilitator guides, student guides, user guides, and job aids; and use of Adobe Captivate or Articulate. 1-3 years of experience facilitating in person or remote training. Bachelor’s Degree in Education or Learning Sciences or equivalent work experience with a certificate in instructional technology or other learning disciplines.

Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The person in this position needs to frequently communicate and exchange information and move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc. Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time. Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a keyboard, monitor, calculator, copy / scanner machine, and printer. Frequently moves office and work-related material weighing up to 10 pounds; Occasionally moves office and work-related material weighing up to 30 pounds.
