Summary:

The Vice President of Business Development and is responsible for development and executing long-term business growth strategies, including through overseeing the Sales, Account Management, and Community Development functions.


This position is based in Phoenix Arizona, or Denver or Grand Junction Colorado. Our strategic flexibility allows for local work from home opportunities.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive business development strategy that aligns with the organization’s mission, vision, and objectives, focusing on growth and increased market share
  • Oversee the Sales, Account Management, and Community Development teams, providing leadership, guidance, and performance management to drive success
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including healthcare providers, payers, technology partners, and government agencies
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities, partnerships, and markets within the healthcare and data exchange sector
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and execute integrated sales, marketing, and account management initiatives
  • Monitor and analyze industry trends, competitive landscape, and market opportunities to inform business development strategies and tactics
  • Develop and manage sales and account management KPIs, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives
  • Represent the organization at industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities
  • Work closely with the Chief Revenue Officer to develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and financial performance metrics

  • Deep understanding of the healthcare industry, including market dynamics, regulatory environment, and emerging trends in business models, drivers, and technology adoption
  • Thorough knowledge of a diverse range of healthcare organizations and entities, including providers, accountable care organizations, and health plans
  • Ability to motivate, engage and develop staff, building trust and consensus, and appropriately delegating and empowering a high-caliber professional team
  • Promotes a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning and a commitment to quality
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with a high-volume workload often requiring short turnaround times
  • Energetic, self-reliant, good problem solver, and results oriented
  • Demonstrated experience in strategic planning and project management
  • Expertise with the Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Word, Project, and Visio

Education/Experience

Minimum of 10 years of experience in a related field with Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or related field. MBA or MHA degree preferred. Previous management experience including responsibilities for hiring, training, assigning work, and managing performance of staff.

The position may require occasional availability for after-hours work, outside of regularly scheduled hours.


The position may require ability to periodically drive to and from clients, conferences and / or events; and / or limited travel.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The person in this position needs to frequently communicate and exchange information and move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc. Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time. Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a keyboard, monitor, calculator, copy / scanner machine, and printer. Frequently moves office and work-related material weighing up to 10 pounds; Occasionally moves office and work-related material weighing up to 30 pounds.
