What We Are Looking For
Conti Civil is seeking an experienced Safety & Training Director to lead and enhance our safety programs, training initiatives, and workforce development efforts. This role will be instrumental in ensuring compliance with safety regulations, improving workplace safety culture, and implementing best-in-class training programs across our operations. The Safety & Training Director will collaborate closely with senior management, HR, and field teams to drive continuous improvement in safety and workforce development.

Responsibilities
Safety Program Leadership
- Oversee and continuously improve the company's Safety Program, ensuring compliance with OSHA, federal, state, and local regulations.
- Conduct regular site inspections and audits to enforce adherence to safety protocols.
- Lead the development of Work Plans that incorporate proper safety procedures, reinforcing a strong safety culture.
- Collaborate with Project Operations to drive a behavioral shift towards a "safety first" mindset.
- Research and implement new tools and technologies to enhance safety management and automation.
- Ensure onboarding qualification assessments are properly conducted and audited.
- Develop and implement comprehensive training programs that align with Conti Civil’s strategic goals.
- Conduct organizational assessments to identify skills gaps and training needs across projects.
- Oversee craft orientation programs for new hires, ensuring effective onboarding into the company’s safety and productivity standards.
- Design and manage on-the-job training processes and evaluation forms in coordination with HR.
- Lead the creation of career development plans for employees to support long-term growth.
- Ensure all training programs meet regulatory compliance standards, particularly regarding safety, quality, and environmental management.
- Incorporate innovative learning tools and technologies to improve training outcomes.
- Work closely with HR and Operations to develop processes and conduct audits for adherence.
- Manage safety personnel and oversee the implementation of best practices in safety and training.
- Organize and lead safety training sessions for employees at all levels.
- Coach and mentor field teams to enhance adherence to safety protocols.
- Monitor work plan execution to ensure proper training and consistency across projects.
- 10 years of experience in heavy civil construction, with a strong background in safety and workforce training.
- Prior managerial experience leading safety teams and training initiatives.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and other relevant safety and training standards.
- Ability to conduct risk assessments and implement preventative safety measures.
- Experience in developing and implementing training programs for employees at all levels.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) certification preferred but not required.
- Willingness to travel every 6 weeks to NJ as required by the role.
