Job Description
Quality Control Manager Job Overview
The Quality Control Manager (QCM) plays a crucial role in ensuring project compliance with performance work statements and contractor quality control plans.
This position requires daily quality control reporting, subcontractor management, quality control submittal management, conducting quality phase meetings, and frequent field quality control inspections to prevent contract non-conformance.
The QCM must demonstrate continuous process improvement throughout the project and company, championing quality excellence at all times.
Responsibilities
- Lead planning, development, and implementation of the Quality Control Management Plan and system for all project activities from notice to proceed through final customer acceptance.
- Establish and lead quality control initiatives, activities, and corrective actions.
- Review project specifications for project quality requirements and ensure documents comply with contract requirements.
- Review drawings and submittals for conformance with project specifications.
- Coordinate material submittals and track approval status to completion.
- Conduct weekly quality control meetings with the superintendent and provide daily QC reports as described in project contract documents.
- Coordinate with the Project Manager to ensure timely submission of daily Contractor Quality Control Reports.
- Study and master all aspects of the contract, specifications, addendum, pre-bid information, and plans.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in one of the following disciplines: Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management.
- Hold a state Professional Engineer's license with a minimum of 2 years construction experience on construction similar to this contract, including one year as a QC representative, OR;
- Be a construction professional with a minimum of 4 years in related work, including one year as a QC representative.
- Current USACE Construction Quality Control for Contractors certification required.
- Proficient in the Three Phases of Control Quality Management System utilized by USACE and other Federal Government Agencies.
- Training in and experience with the USACE Resident Management System (RMS) 3.0.
- Experience with submittal management.
- Ability to read and understand contract drawings and specifications.
- Strong verbal and written skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Word).
