- Develops, revises, and maintains policy forms and endorsements for all CNA Specialty product lines, with special emphasis on Financial Lines including Directors & Officers and Errors & Omissions products, and with the ability to support other business segments and product areas as needed. Responsible for overseeing the product through its lifecycle to meet the demands of the market, regulatory environment, and underwriting staff.
- Cultivates deep expertise and thought leadership on Financial Lines products. Provides counsel to underwriters and product leaders on strategic issues associated with drafting policy forms and endorsements so as to meet their business objectives and satisfy all applicable regulatory requirements. Proactively identifies potential enhancements. Advise colleagues on coverage interpretations to assist Underwriting and Legal with issues raised by external partners or customers.
- Reviews and approves product-related marketing material, and risk management presentations and articles ensuring that it correctly reflects the product content and complies with all applicable insurance laws. Interfaces with Marketing, Compliance, Legal, and Communications as appropriate.
- Monitors, evaluates and advises business areas regarding state/federal legislative and regulatory activity and industry developments as they impact product lines.
- Participate in insurance product-related training and onboarding of underwriters and other personnel.
May perform additional duties as assigned.
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
- Excellent knowledge of insurance business including: product development, underwriting, claim, legal, and regulatory.
- In depth knowledge of insurance contracts (particularly D&O, E&O and other Specialty insurance contracts), coverage, and regulatory issues, etc.
- Ability to problem-solve and analyze coverage issues.
- Ability to resolve short term problems while supporting long-term objectives.
- Strong interpersonal skills required to interact effectively with relevant business areas and external contacts.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to handle difficult and sensitive situations.
- Excellent computer skills including strong working knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe, and other business related software systems.
- Ability to prioritize and multi-task.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree with Juris Doctor required
- Typically a minimum of seven years related work experience reflecting a combination of insurance product drafting, product development, and/or coverage.

In certain jurisdictions, CNA is legally required to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation for this role. In District of Columbia, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New York and Washington, the national base pay range for this job level is $97,000 to $189,000 annually. Salary determinations are based on various factors, including but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and location.
