The Hall is a self-supporting museum, therefore, rental of our facility for events, along with revenue produced from touring and various Meadow Brook fundraisers, help keep Meadow Brook Hall available and open to the public to enjoy.
Overview:
As Assistant Dining Room Manager, you will work closely with the Dining Room Manager to oversee the daily operations of the Catering Service Staff, working as a team with Sales Manager and Executive Chef. Range of events include, but not be limited to: Weddings; social, corporate, community events; and events specific to Oakland University and Meadow Brook Hall.
This position is employed by Continental Cregar's LLC at Meadow Brook Hall on the campus of Oakland University in Rochester, MI, under the terms of the Food and Beverage Services Agreement between Continental Cregar's, LLC and Oakland University.
Job Responsibilities:
Manage service staff, to include staffing, scheduling, training, performance, appearance, reviews, pre-event set-up, service standards, etc.
Limited ordering & inventory responsibilities.
Oversee events from start to finish.
Work directly with Chef for special menu requests.
Attend weekly Sheets meetings - BEO review
Manage pre-shift meeting for service team day of event
Participate in internal meetings, logistics, execution and service for Special Events, i.e. Holiday Walk, Winter Wonder Lights, expansion plans
Ensure MBH policies and procedures are followed
Ensure the highest of service standards
Responsible for all other tasks as assigned
Requirements:
The ideal employee should have an outgoing personality, spectacular decision-making skills, possess great attention to detail, exhibit well developed organizational and leadership skills, possess computer skills with experience in detailing events, and have the ability to work well in a fast-paced environment while always maintaining a professional demeanor in all circumstances.
The employee must bring experience in the hospitality industry.
Highly developed customer service skills
Effective verbal communication, as well as excellent business writing skills.
Available to work nights, weekends, and the occasional holiday, as events and business dictates
Must be able to work well within a team
Must be able to present a cheerful attitude even in very stressful moments.
Must possess leadership skills.
