What are the responsibilities and job description for the Loan Servicing Specialist position at Continental Finance Company?

We are seeking a Loan Servicing Representative I to support our Liberty Career Finance team. Liberty Career Finance provides loans to vocational schools in the transportation and other short-term training programs.
The Loan Servicing Representative I will support the team by processing loans for our customers and working as a liaison with our schools.
***CFC offers a hybrid work schedule which includes three (3) core days in the office (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday) and two (2) remote workdays (Monday and Friday)***
Essential Functions:
- Utilize system to complete underwriting of applications submitted by schools and make sound underwriting decisions based on subjective underwriting guidelines.
- Complete exit interviews with students completing schools to educate them on loan process and employment.
- Verify files in preparation of funding including completion of exit interviews, verifying employment, e-mailing loan documents to employers for tuition reimbursement and payroll deduction, verifying phone numbers and compiling funding documents.
- Follow up with customer related to delinquent accounts, payment arrangements, settlements, and general correspondence.
- Liaison with new school and provide guidance and support in the onboarding process.
- Contact carriers to submit tuition paperwork.
- Provide support for completing glances of customer credit to determine issues.
- Handle settlement offers to customers
- Handle debt val letters and ACDV’s.
- Create, update, and maintain loan spreadsheets in Excel.
- Manage new loan assignments, bankruptcies, and escalated customer calls.
- Oversee loan processes such as servicing, month end and new loans.
- Other operational responsibilities will be assigned as needed.
The ideal candidate will have the following:
- Associates Degree or three years of equivalent work experience required.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate with all levels of customers both internally and externally.
- Understanding of reading credit reports preferred but not required.
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience working in the sub-to-near-prime credit space preferred but not required.
- Proven ability to use good judgment in decision making.
- Proven experience and proficiency in Microsoft Word and some advanced functions of Excel required.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting daily, weekly, and monthly deadlines.
- Strong math acumen and problem-solving skills.
