The successful candidate will be instrumental in navigating contested and intricate claims, guiding fraud detection initiatives, and collaborating with our Special Investigations Unit (SIU). Candidates with a strong background in claims litigation, regulatory compliance, and fraud-related legal matters, particularly within LTC claims, are highly encouraged to apply.

Compensation And Benefits
We are considering candidates for both mid and senior-level roles. The compensation for mid-level candidates with 5 years of experience ranges from \(120,000 to \)150,000, while senior-level candidates with 8 years of experience can expect a salary between \(150,000 and \)180,000.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert legal counsel on complex and contested LTC and life insurance coverage disputes.
- Assess policy language, coverage, and liability concerns to facilitate fair and timely claim resolutions.
- Oversee appeals and disputes arising from denied or contested claims.
- Collaborate with the SIU team to offer legal guidance during fraud investigations.
- Advise on legal strategies for detecting, preventing, and addressing fraudulent activities.
- Ensure adherence to applicable fraud-related laws and regulations.
- Oversee litigation related to claims disputes, including collaboration with external legal counsel as necessary.
- Represent the company in mediations, arbitrations, and other legal proceedings.
- Develop legal strategies to mitigate risks and effectively resolve disputes.
- Monitor and interpret updates in state and federal insurance laws affecting claims practices.
- Ensure compliance of claims and fraud detection activities with relevant regulations.
- Aid in drafting and interpreting insurance policies, endorsements, and related documents.
- Provide guidance on policy language to reduce disputes and guarantee compliance.
- Educate claims professionals and SIU investigators on regulatory updates, fraud detection best practices, and legal risks.
- Collaborate with internal teams, including underwriting, compliance, and risk management, to align legal strategies with business objectives.
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
- Minimum of 5 years of legal experience, specifically in insurance claims and fraud investigations.
- Proven expertise in handling contested claims, preferably within LTC or life insurance sectors.
- Experience advising on legal matters related to fraud detection and SIU operations.
- In-depth knowledge of state and federal insurance regulations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address complex legal and claims-related issues.
- Exceptional communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
