The Tax Associate will be responsible for supporting various aspects of state and local tax practices and filings, including premium tax, municipal tax, and special state projects. The individual will work with regulatory agencies to interpret, analyze, and prepare various reports and tax filings within set deadlines and parameters.
Primary Responsibilities
The successful candidate will navigate a wide variety of state premium and municipal tax matters including:

Prepare and file premium tax returns and estimates

Prepare and file municipal tax returns

Prepare premium tax accounting and accruals

Prepare and maintain Guaranty fund files, payments and accruals

Prepare Statutory Reporting as required by states and municipalities

Reconcile tax accounts

Prepare budget estimates for premium and municipal taxes

Assist leadership with other related projects or other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Qualifications
Education: Associate’s degree or equivalent experience
Field of Study: Business, Accounting or a related discipline
Experience: 2 years of related experience

Knowledge and understanding of state/local tax laws and regulations

Solid computer literacy including intermediate proficiency with MS Excel. Proven ability to use pertinent data and facts to identify, analyze, and interpret data
Preferred Qualifications

Premium Pro and EAS software experience

Previous experience in the insurance industry

Demonstrated ability to prioritize assignments and manage workload within statutory and internal deadlines

Proven excellent organizational and verbal/written communication skills

Demonstrated solid research and analytical skills
