What are the responsibilities and job description for the Packaging Line Technician position at Continental Manufacturing?
Continental Manufacturing Chemist (CMC), in Madrid, IA seeks additional Packaging Line Technicians to join our growing team!
These openings are for our Madrid facility, which runs production Monday through Friday from 6:00am to 2:30pm, Monday through Friday (x5 8-hour shifts).
Packaging Line Technicians are directly responsible for performing all duties of the production filling/packaging line using Current Good Manufacturing Principles (cGMP) as outlined in our company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Packaging Line Technicians will strive to exceed safety, quality, productivity, and scrap reduction operational metrics in effort to provide CMC customers with timely delivery of a superior quality product.
Packaging Line Technician Duties:
- Arriving to the assigned line, ready to begin operations by the start of the shift, and remaining able to work throughout the duration of the assigned shift
- Handling components and applying them to the production line; such as putting empty bottles in the front of the line and/or loading labels into a label-applicator (once trained)
- Inspecting both the line itself and products on the line to ensure all components, labels, coding, and fill are applied correctly
- Boxing finished product, placing products in totes, and palletizing finished goods as instructed
- Once trained, operating automated and manual machines, such as: tapers, cappers, labelers, pallet jacks, and other tools needed to complete packaging processes for the assigned production
- Assisting leads to ensure all paperwork for line production is completed accurately in a timely manner (including batch records, move tickets, rate sheets, etc)
- Ensure line is properly cleaned after production runs and are prepared for the next job to be set up
- Using required protective and safety equipment (such as hairnets, safety shoes, safety glasses)
- Compliance with all company safety and risk management policies and procedures, including reporting all accidents and injuries in a timely manner, participating in cGMP, quality, safety and SOP training, and applying all applicable OSHA and related local safety requirements to all assigned work
- Other duties and projects as assigned
Education/Experience Requirements:
- Preferred: High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience
- Preferred: Some manufacturing or production experience
- Standing for entirety of shift on concrete floors in safety toed footwear
- Lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling from 15lbs up to 35lbs
- Performing basic math (such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division) with or without the use of a calculator
- Attention to detail, multi-tasking, and operating/communicating effectively under pressure and a deadline
