Job Description

Continental Tide is seeking a team-oriented and experienced individual to join our company as a Logistician / Purchasing Agent II in our Norfolk office. The successful candidate will join our Norfolk team currently executing Project Management, Engineering and Technical initiatives for the Naval Sea Systems Command and other branches of the Department of Defense. Candidates must be able to make sound decisions in a timely manner, display strong interpersonal skills, and have an agile perspective of compliance protocol mandated by DoD regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that all services are delivered and that all tasking is performed in accordance with contractual requirements.
  • Performs accurate parts research using construction drawings, logistics documents, technical manuals and vendors.
  • Responsible for material sourcing, ordering, receipt and inspection, warehouse, tool and material inventory control, prepping material for shipping, quoting material through vendors and customer interaction.
  • Participate in meetings with Continental Tide Program Managers, Project Leads and Management Staff.
  • Analyzes standard contractual documents, facility requirements, customer usage data, customer maintenance practices, customer operation characteristics, and related reports for assigned contracts to determine spares provisioning or maintenance/repair requirements.
  • Generating, reviewing and maintaining ILS documentation. Monitors inventory and analyzes requirements in order to develop strategies to achieve desired system reliability and availability requirements. Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Ensures the execution and continuous improvement of standard logistics processes, such as the replenishment system, data interchange systems, demand management, electronic data systems administration and related functions.
  • Support other key management personnel in their responsibilities and ensure they manage in line with relevant statutory, security, environmental, health, and compliance requirements.
  • Maintain a professional staff and ensure that they follow established Government training protocols, policies, directives, and procedures at all times.
  • Communicate effectively with the US Government employees and departments to accomplish tasks and requirements and promote a customer friendly environment in support of operations at all levels.
  • Meet the requirements SOW, delivering high quality services that align with the needs of the customer and in accordance with applicable statues and industry best management practices.
  • Coordinate with local Defense Reutilization and Marketing Offices (DRMO) or approved secured methods for disposing excess property. All disposal methods must be coordinated with Government representative.

Experience And Skills

  • Candidates must possess a high school diploma, GED, or industrial school certificate
  • Candidate must possess a high school or trade/industrial school graduate, or equivalent. Individuals should have a minimum five (5) years experience with sourcing, purchasing, staging and shipping equipment and material for maintenance and modernization initiatives and shall be familiar with material MIL specifications and standards.
  • Strong communication skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (windows, excel, outlook) is a must.
  • Valid US Passport and ability to maintain a DoD Security Clearance.
  • Inventory, equipment maintenance, date entry and computer skills are be required.
  • Specific vision abilities required for this job include close visions, distance visions, color visions, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust and focus
  • Current forklift license or experience driving forklift (is preferred).
  • All successful applicants must be able to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes. The exact weight requirements will be determined by the specific job, but no less than 30 lbs.
  • Able to work on and climb ladders, work in extreme temperature environments and, under industrial conditions. Able to perform other duties as required which may involve high heat, humidity, noise and dirty conditions.

Required Experience

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Five (5) years of functional experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of industry trends and best practices with regards to OSHA practices, MSDS, warehouse safety, supply chain management and inventory control procedures.
  • Familiarity with Contractor Purchasing Systems and Supply Chain Management
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Must possess a current SECRET clearance

  • Ability to work in a fast-pace environment that requires handling multiple tasks at a given time and rapidly adapting to changing priorities and schedules
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Expert computer skills, specifically Microsoft Office Suite
  • Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills
