WHO YOU ARE

As the Executive Pastry Chef , you'll be at the helm of innovation and excellence as one of the leaders of the Proof Bakery team to deliver unforgettable pastries and breads for high-profile events. This role is all about blending creativity with precision, overseeing the production and presentation of a diverse array of sweet and savory treats while collaborating closely with our Director of Bakery Operations and Executive Chef.

You will lead, inspire, and cultivate an environment where culinary excellence and high energy thrive. With a strong commitment to quality, you will set the stage for the bakery team to push the boundaries of flavor and aesthetics, ensuring that every event reflects our commitment to excellence.

WHAT IMPACT YOU WILL MAKE

Culinary Leadership & Motivation :

  • Lead the pastry team to execute and elevate our bakery offerings, ensuring every dish is not only delicious but also creatively inspired.
  • Oversee all aspects of pastry preparation and presentation, maintaining impeccable standards of quality and consistency.
  • Push the envelope on pastry menu development, staying ahead of trends and experimenting with new techniques, flavors, and presentations.

Team Culture & Development :

  • Champion a positive, engaging, and inclusive culture within the bakery team, building strong relationships and fostering a collaborative spirit.
  • Implement a structured training and coaching program for all pastry team members, helping them develop both technically and creatively.
  • Lead by example with a hands-on, approachable leadership style, always striving for continuous improvement in team performance and individual development.
  • Communication & Collaboration :

  • Work seamlessly with cross-functional teams, including the Executive Chef, Director of Bakery Operations, Sales, and Front-of-House teams, ensuring smooth operations and alignment with business objectives.
  • Manage communication and expectations with both internal teams and external partners, ensuring the pastry team delivers high-quality, timely products for each event.
  • Creativity & Innovation :

  • Spearhead the development of new pastry creations and seasonal menu items, ensuring they align with current trends and the vision of both clients and the business.
  • Take ownership of menu development, refining offerings to ensure we stay at the forefront of the culinary landscape.
  • Event Execution & Client Experience :

  • Lead the execution of pastries for premier events, ensuring that each plate is a work of art and a testament to our quality standards.
  • Anticipate client needs and go above and beyond to ensure their expectations are not just met, but exceeded, with exceptional pastries and breads.
  • Operational Excellence :

  • Maintain strict adherence to health and safety standards, ensuring compliance with ServSafe and local health codes.
  • Oversee inventory management, minimize waste, and contribute to maintaining financial performance through effective labor and food cost management.
  • Strategic Growth :

  • Collaborate on budgeting and staffing needs, assisting in the development of future hiring strategies and menu planning.
  • Play a key role in the growth of the business by consistently asking, "How can this be better?" and driving improvements in every aspect of operations, training, and guest experience.

    Ideal Qualifications

  • Education : Associates Degree or Certificate in Pastry Arts, or equivalent work experience in the industry.
  • Pastry Expertise : 4 years in pastry or bread, with a proven track record of leading large kitchens, especially in banquet or off-premise catering.
  • Leadership Excellence : 3 years of experience managing teams, with a clear ability to inspire, mentor, and elevate the performance of others.
  • Innovation-Driven : A passion for staying ahead of food trends and a constant drive to experiment with new ideas.
  • Collaboration Mastery : A strong communicator who thrives in cross-functional settings and builds strong relationships.
  • High Standards : Impeccable organizational skills and a commitment to quality, consistency, and operational efficiency.
  • Tech-Savvy : Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other industry-relevant systems.
  • Certification : ServSafe / Allergen certified or willing to achieve within 6 months.
