Job Title: Industrial Maintenance Technician
We are seeking a skilled Industrial Maintenance Technician to join Continental, a leading manufacturer of high-quality automotive and industrial products.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for troubleshooting equipment in the plant, performing routine checks, and ensuring machinery and mechanical equipment are in good working order.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot equipment in the plant to identify and resolve issues efficiently
- Routine check of equipment throughout the plant to prevent potential problems
- Maintain machinery and mechanical equipment in optimal condition using knowledge of equipment operations
- Assist in layout work regarding machine installation, relocation or modification to optimize production efficiency
- Inspect hoists regularly to ensure safe operation
- Conduct fire safety inspections to protect employees and assets
- Perform preventive maintenance as assigned to minimize downtime and extend equipment lifespan
- Repair parts using shop equipment or replace parts from supply to maintain equipment functionality
- Limited welding using oxyacetylene and arc welders to fabricate custom parts
Requirements:
- Lift Truck Operator License to operate heavy machinery safely
- Ability to stand for 100% of the workday, climb 80%, crawl 75%, sit NA, move material 100%, and hear/speak with supervision, section leaders, and coworkers
- Color vision required with normal vision to perform job properly
- Typical tools, instruments, and equipment include hand and power tools, welders, torches, measuring tools, electrical testing equipment, saws, aerial platform, hydraulic press, forktruck, lathe, mill, cutters, degreasing station, pipe threader, ladders, and grinders
Preferred Qualifications:
- Diploma or degree in a relevant field such as engineering or mechanics
- Computer literacy with knowledge of SAP, Lotus Notes, and Microsoft Access 97 to manage data efficiently
- Ability to work with/around chemicals to maintain a safe working environment
- Good understanding of mechanical equipment and its operational principles
- Prioritize tasks efficiently and react to situations effectively
- Absorb training on safe work practices and use of protective equipment and comprehend material safety data sheets
- Certification to operate platform lift and confined space permit to access restricted areas
- Flexibility to work various shifts to meet business needs
