The Unit Secretary/Telemetry Tech will be responsible for: Monitoring heart rhythm patterns to detect record and report normal and abnormal heart rhythm patterns. Report alarms and any abnormal interval measurements. Answer and respond to call lights for the entire hospital. Assists in planning, organizing, implementing and evaluating the activities occurring in the nursing station by performing clerical and receptionist duties and maintaining the physical environment of the area.
Will assist Clinical Staff to retrieve patient data from medical record. Perform clerical functions for the nursing unit within the Unit Secretary's sphere of responsibility. Answer telephone and intercom, take messages, and communicate messages to the appropriate person. Assist patients and visitors in nursing unit as needed.
Will notify nurse of telemetry alarms, document alarms of any abnormal heart rhythm variances which indicate heart ischemia, an acute myocardial infarction, or after pathology. Reviews patient information to determine normal heart rhythm patterns and prior variances. Measure rate and intervals of patients' heart rhythm patterns on a graphic readout, analyzes the heart rhythm and records the information on patients' telemetry charts.
