CONTINUING EDUCATION INSTRUCTOR
Industrial Maintenance - Electrical
City Colleges of Chicago's Continuing Education Department is seeking an experienced and knowledgeable Industrial Maintenance Electrician to join our faculty as a part-time instructor for our upcoming training program.
Key Responsibilities:
· Develop and deliver engaging lectures and practical exercises covering various aspects of industrial electrical systems, including electrical theory, conduit bending, wiring and cable termination, and motor control.
· Provide hands-on training using industry-standard tools and equipment to ensure participants gain practical experience.
· Assess participants' progress through assignments, quizzes, and practical demonstrations, providing constructive feedback and support as needed.
· Maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment, adhering to electrical safety procedures and regulations.
· Collaborate with the Continuing Education Department to ensure the program meets industry standards and participant expectations.
Required Qualifications:
· Minimum of 5 years of experience as an Industrial Maintenance Electrician or in a closely related role.
· Proven expertise in electrical theory, conduit bending, wiring and cable termination, electrical equipment installation, and motor control.
· Strong understanding of electrical safety procedures and regulations.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex concepts to a diverse group of learners.
· Previous teaching or training experience is highly desirable.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Technology, or a related field –OR- Electrical or Maintenance Technician Journeyman status card (preferred).
· Professional certifications relevant to industrial electrical maintenance.
· Experience with curriculum development and instructional design.
· Bilingual English and Spanish.
