About the Job :
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Engineering, Facility & Maintenance Manager to lead and oversee the engineering and maintenance functions at our state-of-the-art metal powder manufacturing facility. This role is critical in ensuring that all manufacturing equipment, facilities, and systems operate efficiently, safely, and reliably to meet production goals and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities :
The ideal candidate will combine strong technical expertise with leadership skills to :
Manage a team of Engineers and Technicians.
Ramp up production in a new facility with the mindset of “Zero Defects / Incidents” (Safety First / Quality Always).
Develop Lean systems / processes, Operator Method Sheets (OMS), Job Hazard Analysis (JHA), Control Plans, and Process Failure Mode and Effect Analysis.
Create Preventive Maintenance Programs.
Implement innovative engineering solutions to drive operational excellence.
Drive cost reduction and continuous improvement initiatives.
Solve problems using proven techniques such as 8 Discipline, Fishbone and “5 Why’s” to understand root causes and escapes with effective corrective actions to prevent recurrences while sharing best practices / lessons learned across the entire organization.
Drive equipment purchases, equipment run offs / validations, equipment integration, future plant expansion projects, permitting processes, additional power requirements, new equipment installations, and any facility related improvements (project management)
Assist in the onboarding and training of new employees.
Engineering Leadership
Plan, direct, and coordinate engineering projects, including equipment upgrades, new installations, and process documentation and improvements.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, quality, and R&D, to identify and address engineering challenges.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance process efficiency, reduce waste, and improve product quality.
Develop and implement Lean initiatives to streamline processes, reduce waste, and improve overall efficiency across processes.
Maintain and update technical documentation, such as drawings, manuals, and SOPs.
Maintenance Management
Develop, implement, and manage a comprehensive preventive and predictive maintenance program for manufacturing equipment and facility infrastructure.
Monitor equipment performance and reliability to minimize downtime and optimize production efficiency (Overall Equip. Efficiencies – OEE).
Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis for equipment failures, ensuring timely resolution.
Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards for all maintenance activities.
Team Management
Lead, mentor, train and develop a team of engineers, maintenance and production technicians, and support staff.
Allocate resources effectively to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
Foster a culture of safety, innovation, and teamwork within the department.
Budgeting & Reporting
Develop and manage the department's budget, including maintenance costs, capital expenditures, and spare parts inventory.
Prepare and present regular reports on equipment performance, project progress, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to senior management.
Required and Preferred Qualifications, Experience and Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. A Master’s degree is a plus.
Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in engineering and maintenance roles, preferably within the manufacturing or metal powder industry.
Familiarity with metal powder production techniques, such as atomization, milling, sieving, blending and heat treatment is highly desirable.
Experience with process optimization, Lean Manufacturing, and Six Sigma, or similar continuous improvement methodologies, is strongly preferred.
Proven track record in managing engineering teams / projects and maintenance teams.
Strong knowledge of manufacturing equipment, mechanical systems, and electrical controls.
Proficient in CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) and AutoCAD or similar design software is strongly preferred.
Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Strong organizational and project management skills.
Effective communication skills, with the ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations related to manufacturing.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, critical thinking and decision-making skills.
Excellent verbal / written communication, interpersonal and collaboration skills.
Takes a “hands-on” approach in the shop, actively engaging in day-to-day operations, troubleshooting maintenance issues, and ensuring smooth workflow.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements of the role :
The position involves work in an office and in a manufacturing facility (loud noises, moving mechanical parts and exposure to metal powders).
Strict adherence to safety protocols is required to minimize risks associated with handling hazardous materials.
The role requires wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including steel-toe shoes, protective eyewear, earplugs and respiratory equipment (when working with metal powders).
Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs.
Travel :
Domestic travel may be required to other work locations.
