Position Overview
The 508 Compliance Analyst will be responsible for supporting our customer, the Department of Veterans Affairs, by providing Section 508 compliance evaluation, analysis, monitoring, and verification of the remediation of defects for their software applications to ensure compliance with federal accessibility rules and regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Test applications to measure the accessibility and Section 508 compliance
- Work with platform software vendors like Salesforce and Microsoft to shepherd remediation of custom off-the-shelf (COTS) 508 defects
- Provide remediation guidance to developer teams
- Recommend potential solutions by evaluating new and emerging assistive technologies that support Reasonable Accommodations designed to increase accessibility
- Maintain current knowledge of Section 508, its amendments, updates, and industry best practices.
- Prepare reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information.
- Deliver accessibility training and seminars as needed for the program.
- Document testing methodologies and write accessibility compliance reports.
- May collaborate with other engineering groups to improve or upgrade Accessibility features and / or product performance.
- Assists with writing procedures and policies to assess product accessibility and evaluates the ability of applications to meet Section 508 and WCAG 2.0 standards and specifications.
