The Analytical Chemistry Scientist uses effective analytical methods to facilitate the drug manufacturing process of small-molecule pharmaceuticals. The Scientist studies the physical or chemical properties of drug substances and drug products to determine the quality and stability of drug products, ensuring the safety of the drug.
Key responsibilities:
- Use instruments and methods to separate, detect and quantify matter.
- Perform routine and non-routine analyses of raw materials, in-process materials, stability samples and finished products using (but not limited to) HPLC/UPLC, LC-MS and GC.
- Develop / qualify methods used for testing/analysis to support CONTINUUS development work and future releasing tests.
- Responsible for method development, lab operations, and stability testings.
- Support regulatory filings.
- Troubleshoot laboratory procedures and instrumentation. Maintain instrumentation.
Other responsibilities:
- Contribute to and author project reports, peer-review journal publications, and participate in meetings / conferences.
- Design appropriate plans to meet project goals, timelines and budget.
- Work closely and collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams.
- Mentor and train others on best practices.
- Occasionally asked to perform duties beyond formal job responsibilities.
Educational requirements:
- BS or MS or Ph. D. in Analytical Chemistry or related scientific field
Experience and skill requirements:
- Familiarity with cGMP regulations.
- Experience with analytical instruments, such as: HPLC/UPLC, LC-MS and GC
- Experience in developing chromatographic methods
- CDS: Empower, Chemstation
- Understanding of safety protocols, Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), Good Documentation Practices (GDP), ICH guidelines, and USP requirements.
- Familiarity with Electronic Notebooks (ELN)
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
- Ability to work well in cross-functional teams
- Microsoft Office suite experience (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
