Job Responsibilities
- Manufacturing and Process Development
- Manufacture electromechanical systems from prototype to commercial product
- Collaborate with the hardware team to incorporate design for manufacturing/assembly
- Perform root cause analysis in response to failures in the field. Design corrective actions and solutions to reduce defects.
- Write documentation required for successfully manufacturing their hardware at scale, such as work instructions, inspection requirements, etc.
- Lead the Manufacturing Facility Development
- Organize a scalable production environment with state-of-the-art equipment
- Identify tooling and hardware requirements, design and implement them into production processes
- Train and mentor production staff on best practices, safety protocols, and quality control measures.
- Supply Chain and Inventory Management
- Drive the outsourcing of subassemblies to external vendors while ensuring adherence to strict quality standards, cost-effectiveness, and timely delivery.
- Build and maintain strong vendor relationships to facilitate successful supplier negotiations, optimize procurement strategies, and secure favorable terms.
- Implement tools and processes to enhance inventory management, ensuring optimal stock levels, minimizing waste, and supporting production efficiency.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to forecast inventory requirements, improve material flow, and ensure alignment with production schedules.
- Evaluate supplier performance regularly to identify risks and opportunities for improvement
Qualification/Requirements
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, or a related field.
- 2 years of manufacturing experience in either a professional work environment or a project/research-based student experience
- Familiar with Mechanical CAD Assembly Tools (SOLIDWORKS Preferred)
- Knowledge of design-for-manufacturing (DFM) and design-for-assembly (DFA) principles.
- Experience with electromechanical assemblies
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Willingness to work hands-on to build robot prototypes and early production robots
Preferred:
- Experience with robotics or industrial robotic automation systems.
- Familiarity with electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
- Project management skills and experience leading cross-functional teams.
- Knowledge of inventory management, vendor negotiation, and procurement is a plus
