Program Protection Platform Engineer
Location: Hybrid/Sterling Heights, MI (Up to 100% on-site presence required)
About the Role:
The Program Protection Platform Engineer will play a crucial role in supporting the Cyber, Command, Control, Communication, Computers, Cyber, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (C4ISR) and Autonomy group. This position focuses on the development and application of system security engineering and program protection for major defense acquisition programs across the U.S. market. The role will execute guidance from the platform's Chief Engineer, Systems Engineering Manager, and functional management to ensure the protection of critical systems.

This position focuses on the development and application of system security engineering and program protection for major defense acquisition programs across the U.S. market. The role will execute guidance from the platform's Chief Engineer, Systems Engineering Manager, and functional management to ensure the protection of critical systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and apply system security engineering and program protection strategies for major defense acquisition programs.
- Collaborate on the creation of Program Protection Implementation Plans (PPIP) and advise customers through the development process.
- Work with Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) to assess program security risks and develop risk mitigation strategies.
- Partner with subject matter experts in software/hardware assurance, cybersecurity, and supply chain risk management to address security risks for advanced systems.
- Analyze critical program information, mission functions, and components to safeguard cutting-edge technologies.
- Oversee and manage C5ISR products and tasks, ensuring an integrated, balanced, and compliant design across the vehicle system.
- Lead efforts to embed cyber-physical design best practices across the engineering enterprise, helping foster a cybersecurity culture.
- Manage requirements, architectures, and system designs, ensuring all conditions and trades are fully resolved.
- Lead design and integration troubleshooting, including Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) processes.
- Develop and evaluate key design milestone artifacts and ensure compliance with contract requirements.
- Coordinate with Design IPTs to manage interface development, threat analysis, and requirements compliance.
- Participate in peer reviews and cross-functional technical scope integration within schedule constraints.
Candidates will be evaluated based on the aggregate of the position requirements. While experience in all areas is not mandatory, the ideal candidate will possess a combination of the following:
- Education: Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related science (cyber technical certificates considered).
- Experience: Minimum 4 years of relevant experience.
- Experience working on engineering or military projects, particularly in vehicle development and integration.
- Proven ability to work with teams on technical development projects.
- Experience interpreting and managing system-level requirements based on higher-level customer needs.
- Familiarity with electrical line replaceable units and troubleshooting electronic hardware.
- Knowledge of cyber warfare (offensive/defensive), Program Protection Planning, and Program Protection Implementation Plans (PPIPs).
- Experience with embedded systems, software, and cybersecurity principles.
- Familiarity with cyber-physical system security requirements.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Project).
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (up to 15%).
