Job Description:
We are seeking skilled and dedicated Emergency Spill Response Technicians to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for responding to and managing hazardous material spills, including oil field spills, fuel station spills, and accident clean-ups. The role requires quick thinking, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in challenging environments. Hazmat training is preferred but not required as we offer training for the right candidates.
Key Responsibilities:
- Respond promptly to emergency spill incidents, including oil field spills, fuel station spills, and vehicle accident clean-ups.
- Safely manage the containment, cleanup, and disposal of hazardous materials and chemicals in accordance with environmental regulations.
- Work in a team setting to mitigate the environmental impact of spills and restore affected areas to a safe and compliant state.
- Conduct hazard assessments at spill sites to determine necessary response actions.
- Utilize spill containment and cleanup equipment such as absorbent materials, pumps, and vacuums.
- Coordinate with local authorities and environmental agencies during spill response and reporting processes.
- Maintain accurate documentation of spill incidents, actions taken, and materials used for compliance and reporting purposes.
- Perform routine maintenance and checks on spill response equipment to ensure operational readiness.
- Participate in ongoing training related to hazardous materials handling, emergency response, and safety protocols.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other relevant safety and environmental regulations.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent; a degree or certification in environmental science or a related field is a plus but not required.
- Experience in emergency response, spill containment, or hazardous materials handling is highly preferred.
- Hazmat training and certifications are a plus; additional training will be provided.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, especially in high-pressure situations.
- Ability to work in various environmental conditions and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Excellent communication and team collaboration skills.
- Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
