About The Role
This position involves conducting research and development of innovative biomaterials for Contraline’s next-generation products and broader hydrogel platform.
What You'll Do
- Assist in the design and execution of experimental benchtop studies towards the development of polymeric biomaterials.
- Learn and perform mechanical and chemical characterizations of biomaterials.
- Assist the R&D team with broader company objectives and projects as they come up.
- Prepare data and reports for laboratory meetings and present to the team at the end of the internship.
- Design and refine test methods and analysis.
- Maintain timely and accurate laboratory records.
- Actively working towards a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Virginia.
- Must be eligible for the University of Virginia Coulter Fellowship Program
- Experience in biomaterials, polymers, and/or medical device development is preferred, but a strong demonstrated interest in these areas is also valuable.
- Experience with Python and/or R for data collection and visualization is preferred
- Great communication skills
- Innovative and forward-thinking; great at problem-solving
- Hard working; strong dedication to the internship and project
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with teams
