MES Engineer I

Setting new standards for industrial process automation solutions in the metropolitan New York City tristate area, Control Associates, Inc. is a premier provider of process automation systems & software, valves, measurement solutions, pressure management, and asset reliability. We are looking to hire a MES Engineer, and this role will be based out of our headquarters in Allendale, NJ.

Established in 1933, Control Associates along with its global process automation business partner, Emerson, specializes in supporting the process control equipment and service needs of the following industries: Life Sciences, Natural Gas Distribution & Transmission, HVAC, Power, Chemical, and Downstream Hydrocarbons.

Role: The MES Engineer is responsible for joining a team of engineers, responsible in the Design, Implementation, and Testing of MES Delivered solutions for our Premiere Life Science & Pharmaceutical Customers (Biologics, OSD, CAR-T and Packaging)

Responsibilities:

  • Work within the project team in the design, implementation, and testing of complex Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) to meet customer requirements
  • Responsible for various aspects of MES project implementation from project proposal support through to start-up and commissioning.
  • Work optimally with client resources, including Senior Operators, Supervisors, Process experts, Site IT and Client Leadership, to define business needs and requirements.
  • Work with other MES team members to define scope, sizing, system operational requirements, and integration requirements.
  • Create prototypes to develop and demonstrate project solutions and unique product features.
  • Develop General Design Specifications (GDS), Functional Requirements Specifications (FRS) and Detailed Design Specifications (DDS) along with validation documentation as required.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by the Engineering Manager.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science degree required, preferably in Computer Information Systems, Biochemical Engineering or related life science or engineering discipline.
  • Client-facing role must have excellent written, electronic, and interpersonal skills, must be able build strong customer/client relationships.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Prior Emerson Syncade experience desired, but experience with other MES platforms including Werum PAS-X, Rockwell Pharmasuite, POMSnet, Siemens Camstar, Proficy or equivalent may also be considered.
  • Integration knowledge/experience with MES and ERP preferred.
  • Integration knowledge/experience with other enterprise systems that require MES integration is a plus.
  • Ability to understand customer requirements for life science manufacturing processes, equipment usage and cleaning, and process controls, are preferred.
  • Ability to understand customer requirements for manufacturing batch record review and then work with report authors to implement an electronic batch record.
  • Microsoft SQL Server experience required with Backup and Recovery options.
  • Clients are based throughout the New York metropolitan area, with the potential ability to travel across North America for formalized training and onsite client deliverables.
  • Valid Driver’s License is required.
  • Normal Working Hours: Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Must be available for emergency services and on-call duty/rotating schedule.
  • Please note that work visa sponsorship is not available for this role.
  • This is a direct placement position; third party contracts are not available.
  • This is not a remote opportunity, if not local to Allendale, NJ, relocation to NYC tristate area will be required
