Job Title: Control Systems Architect
At Control Associates, Inc., we set new standards for industrial process automation solutions in the metropolitan New York City tristate area. As a premier provider of process automation systems & software, valves, measurement solutions, pressure management, and asset reliability, we are looking to hire a Control Systems Architect to lead our design, development, and implementation efforts.
We specialize in supporting the process control equipment and service needs of various industries, including Life Sciences, Natural Gas Distribution & Transmission, HVAC, Power, Chemical, and Downstream Hydrocarbons.
Role: This senior resource will be responsible for designing and implementing customer-specific solutions that utilize our industry-leading automation portfolio.
Responsibilities:
- Design leading-edge architecture of control systems solutions that meet specific customer system requirements and adhere to strict hardware and software guidelines.
- Develop architectures that thrive in high-performance instances and provide long-term reliability.
- Lead various stages of development efforts, including requirement gathering/analysis, system design, hardware selection, UI, system performance, validation, and reliability/maintenance planning.
- Function as a thought-leader for Control Associates, Inc. (CAI) and serve as the main point of contact for technical discussions with clients.
- Work closely with CAI's Program/Project Management team to set project timelines and delivery dates.
- Collaborate with CAI Sales Management to determine project costs, including staff, hardware, and software for customer solutions.
- Support the development of customer-facing business tools, including customer service portals, automated order acknowledgement processes, and shipment/tracking notifications.
- Regularly perform walkdowns with Account Managers & Strategic Sales to understand client applications.
- Assist with other small projects as needed to gain a deeper understanding of client applications.
- Communicate and resolve customer satisfaction issues internally and suggest process improvements where warranted.
- Support Sales and Business Unit management teams in achieving Emerson initiatives.
- This role requires travel to customers within the NYC Tri-State Area.
- The ideal candidate must satisfactorily complete formal trainings for Control Associates, Inc., as well as various Emerson formalized trainings.
- This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
- Reports To: Sales Manager, Systems & Software.
Prerequisites:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering required; preferred majors include mechanical, electrical, or chemical engineering.
- 8 years of experience working with Control Systems, with leadership experience in HMI, PLCs, MES, and SCADA.
- 5 years' experience designing solutions within the control systems industry.
- 5 years of Software architecture experience and/or field experience with L2 & L3 software installations required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Emerson Automation portfolio preferred; experience with Rockwell, Honeywell, Siemens, Schneider, Mitsubishi, and/or Yokogawa also of interest.
- Adept at Microsoft Office Suite applications and CRMs; ERP tool experience preferred.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, written, verbal, and electronic communication skills.
- Strong leadership and collaboration skills, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must be a constant learner, keeping up-to-date on a broad range of client-specific software solutions and product lines.
