Job Summary:
This position will oversee the planning, procurement, storage, control, and distribution of materials and products according to company needs and customer requirements and manage the inventory of materials and parts for the company.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
· Oversees the daily workflow and schedules of the department
· Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new staff
· Sets authorization limits for purchasing staff
· Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive
· Handles discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with company policy
Duties and Responsibilities
· Directs Purchasing and Inventory Control departments
· Develops, implements, and maintains policies and procedures for Purchasing and Inventory Control, in collaboration with Sales, Customer Service, Production, and Logistics departments, with a goal of maximizing efficiency and optimizing workflow
· Develops, implements, and maintains control systems for tracking, analysis, auditing and reporting with a goal of ensuring overall data integrity within the departments; provides clear and concise reporting to Management
· Documents standard work instructions associated with Purchasing and Inventory roles
· Inventory
o Maintains and ensures accuracy of the inventory and inventory system
o Develops standards, metrics and procedures that maximize inventory management efficiency
o Maintains inventory levels to ensure deliveries occur within customer timelines
o Establishes procedures for conducting and valuing year-end physical inventory at all Controlled Automation locations
o Plans and manages annual physical inventories, as well as internal/external audits
o Performs cycle counts to ensure accuracy of inventory
o Analyzes and evaluates inventory discrepancies; establish and implement prevention countermeasures
o Performs write-offs on damaged or obsolete inventory to reflect the accurate value of inventory
o Maintains a system of identifying and reporting slow-moving, surplus and odd lot inventory
o Develops and maintains inventory databases for supplies and materials used
· Purchasing
o Purchases supplies, materials and parts for the company
o Purchases large and complex items
o Works with the Production departments to schedule delivery of materials, supplies, and equipment
o Oversees shipping and receiving functions related to purchased parts and finished goods
o Manages and monitors storage of purchased parts and finished goods
o Reviews purchase orders and contracts for compliance with company and developmental policies
o Negotiates and completes contracts with vendors and suppliers for optimal cost and delivery time
o Communicates with vendors and suppliers to resolve problems that may arise regarding delivery, quality, price or conditions of sale
o Maintains knowledge of trends, prices, buyers, and delivery conditions to anticipate future material availability; directs purchasing programs accordingly
o Identifies opportunities to reduce transportation costs and charges
o May be asked to travel to visit vendors, suppliers, or different company locations
· Performs other duties as assigned; individuals in this position may occasionally work irregular hours as necessary

Education and Experience
· Ten years of supervisory experience
· Five years of Inventory and Purchasing experience in the manufacturing industry
· Global Shop Solutions helpful but not necessary
Physical Requirements
· This job operates in an office and in a warehouse environment. The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, precarious places, and fumes or airborne particles. The employee occasionally is exposed to wet or humid conditions; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme heat; and general outside weather conditions. The employee is exposed to extreme cold and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. While performing the duties of this job, employees are regularly required to sit, walk, and stand; talk or hear, both in person and by telephone; use hands repetitively to finger, handle, feel or operate standard office equipment; reach with hands and arms; and lift/move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus. May be required to operate vehicles.
