Essential Job Functions:

The Sector Manager (SM) serves as a crucial link between the Program Manager and Supervisors/Transportation Officers. The SM provides operational leadership, coordinates with Local CBP Leadership to plan, schedule, and execute daily requirements, and conducts internal quality control inspections, including uniform and equipment checks. The SM issues verbal and written counseling initiates disciplinary actions as necessary and uses sound judgment to prioritize and complete assignments, which may consist of numerous steps varying in nature and sequence.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent interpersonal communication and customer service skills for interacting with subordinates and customers and performing multiple tasks in tandem.
  • Ability to work effectively as a member of the management team and work without day-to-day on-site supervision.
  • Familiarity with the region and federal contracting industry.

Specific Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all operations in the area of responsibility and ensure excellent performance that meets all requirements and standards.
  • Provide supervision, guidance, and on-the-job training to improve officer skills, reinforcing the critical nature of the officer’s responsibilities.
  • Assure consistent delivery of service regardless of shift or location, take immediate action to correct problems detected, and respond whenever called upon.
  • Maintain full staffing by filling any open posts with reserve or stand-by personnel and managing “call-offs” due to illness or other reasons.
  • Brief officers during muster and post checks regarding any changes in Post Orders or any unusual or emergency situations.
  • Conduct on-the-job training to correct deficiencies in officer performance, or to strengthen and refresh officer knowledge of critical skills and issues.
  • Report any emergency situations to the Program Management team.
  • Conduct administrative investigations of criminal and non-criminal incidents, including personal injury and traffic accidents.
  • Document incidents with complete and accurate verbal and written reports.
  • Review sign-in/out sheets to ensure proper timekeeping by officers.
  • Manage break schedules and ensure that all officers receive breaks and proper relief.

Qualifications:

  • Must be a US citizen.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
  • Must be willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must have a minimum of ten years of successful employment history demonstrating strong management skills. (The applicant may propose a combination of education, training, and employment history as long as they are relevant and meet or exceed the 10-year requirement.)
  • Must have intermediate written English skills, including the ability to prepare detailed written reports and fill out forms.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be able to pass all training and obtain all required certifications.
  • Must be able to pass a US Government background investigation for required security clearance..
