Overview:

A security guard is a professional responsible for safeguarding people, property, and assets from theft, vandalism, and other illegal activities. They monitor premises through patrols, surveillance cameras, and alarm systems while enforcing safety protocols and regulations. Security guards often possess strong observation skills, practical communication abilities, and the capability to respond calmly and decisively in emergencies. They play a critical role in maintaining a secure environment in various settings, including businesses, residential complexes, and public venues.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

1. Patrol designated areas on foot or by vehicle to deter unauthorized activities and ensure safety.

2. Monitor surveillance cameras and alarms to identify and respond to security breaches.

3. Provide excellent customer service by assisting visitors, employees, and clients with inquiries and directions.

4. Conduct routine inspections of premises to identify and address potential security risks.

5. Respond promptly to emergencies, such as medical emergencies or disturbances, and take appropriate action.

6. Complete detailed reports documenting security incidents, observations, and actions taken.

7. Enforce company policies and procedures to maintain order and discipline on the premises.

8. Collaborate with local law enforcement and emergency responders when necessary.

9. Participate in ongoing training to stay updated on security protocols and techniques.

10. Always maintain a professional appearance and demeanor while representing the company.

11. Other duties assigned.

Qualifications:

1. High school diploma or equivalent.

2. Proven experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field preferred.

3. Strong observational skills with the ability to remain alert and focused for extended periods.

4. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

5. Ability to handle stressful situations calmly and effectively.

6. Basic proficiency in computer usage and report writing.

7. Must be able to pass a comprehensive background check and drug screening.

8. Physical ability to stand, walk, and occasionally lift or move objects weighing up to 50 pounds.

9. A valid driver's license and clean driving record may be required, depending on the assignment.

10. Completion of security training courses and certification as state regulations require.
