Transportation Officer Yuma, AZ SW Border

Primary Function:

The primary function of the Contract Transportation Officer is to provide secure and direct transportation of detainees to designated locations as directed by the TOM or ODS. When not engaged in transportation duties, the officer will supplement the Government’s security forces with guard services or perform on-call security duties as required.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide all transportation services as required to transport detainees securely and directly to specified locations.
• Ensure all transportation complies with local, state, and federal motor vehicle regulations, including those set by the Department of Transportation (DOT), Interstate Commerce Commission, and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
• Conduct vehicle inspections using government-approved checklists, noting any defects that could render the vehicle unsafe or inoperable.
• Transport detainees in a safe and humane manner.
• Be armed and meet applicable firearms regulations in compliance with state, federal, and local laws.
• Provide guard services at facilities, ensuring security and control of detainees within or at the facility.
• Supplement government security forces with additional security duties within the designated area of responsibility.
• Perform on-call security duties as requested by the TOM or ODS.

Qualifications:

• Must be at a minimum of 21 years old.
• Bi-lingual preferred but not required. 
• Must be a United States citizen or legal permanent resident.
• Must possess a high school diploma or GED.
• At least one year of experience as a law enforcement officer or military police officer or a period of active-duty military experience with an honorable discharge.
• Alternatively, six months of experience as a security officer engaged in detaining civil or administrative detainees.
• At least one year of general experience demonstrating the following skills:
• Ability to greet and interact with the general public.
• Ability to understand and execute written and verbal orders, rules, and regulations.
• Literacy and ability to interpret printed rules, regulations, detailed written orders, training instructions, and materials.
• Ability to write clear and concise reports.
• Good judgment, courage, alertness, and an even temperament.
• Ability to maintain poise and self-control during stressful situations such as fires, explosions, civil disturbances, and building evacuations. 

Certifications and Licenses:

• Must hold a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
• State Armed Guard License – MUST obtain and maintain valid.

Skills and Abilities:

• Excellent judgment and decision-making skills.
• Strong communication skills for both verbal and written instructions.
• Ability to maintain composure and effectiveness in stressful situations.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail and adherence to safety regulations.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be physically capable of performing all duties related to transportation and security services.

Other Requirements:

• Must comply with all local, state, and federal regulations pertaining to the role.
• Must pass a background check and drug screening.

Pay Rate: 

 $ 30.54 per hour, plus $4.57 per hour for Health & Welfare
