Job Summary

We are seeking a Medical Assistant to join our team! As a Medical Assistant, you will be preparing for each patient visit by preparing charts and pulling notes before their arrival, providing routine support alongside nurses and medical staff, and assisting with keeping track of tests and lab reporting to ensure everything arrives on time and the patient is kept informed on their condition and care. You will also be helping manage the inventory of medical supplies, setting up machines and testing equipment, and cleaning instruments and rooms as needed. The ideal candidate has strong customer service skills, an interest in learning more about a working medical environment, and has previous office experience.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare for the patient visit, including pulling charts and notes, as well as setting up medical equipment
  • Clean instruments and equipment after use
  • Answer phones and field questions about medical issues, identifying visit needs
  • Assist nurses and doctors with basic medical care and procedures
  • Track lab results, call in prescriptions, and handle basic medical office duties


Qualifications

  • Bilingual Required-Spanish Speaking
  • BLS Certification or Certified Medical Assistant Certification
  • Strong attention to detail


Job Duties:

  • Welcome patients by greeting them, in person or on the telephone,
  • Front desk duties included check in and insurance verification
  • Prepares patients for the health care visit by directing and/or accompanying them to the examining room; providing examination gowns and drapes; helping them to position them for the examination and/or treatment; arranging examining room instruments, supplies, and equipment.
  • Verifies patient information by interviewing patient; reviewing and/or recording medical history; taking vital signs; confirming and correctly reporting purpose of visit or treatment.
  • Supports patient care delivery by helping health care providers during examinations; preparing laboratory specimens; performing basic laboratory tests on the premises; disposing of contaminated supplies; sterilizing medical instruments; administering medications on the premises; authorizing drug refills as directed; telephoning prescriptions to pharmacies; drawing blood; taking electrocardiograms; removing sutures; changing dressings.
  • Educates patients by providing medication and diet information and instructions based on medical provider instruction, answering questions. 
  • Completes records by recording patient examination, treatment, and test results.
  • Generates revenues by recording billing information of services rendered; completing insurance forms; responding to insurance and other third-party inquiries.
  • Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders; verifying receipt.
  • Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.
  • Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following, and enforcing standards and procedures, complying with legal regulations. Contributes to daily cleaning of facility which includes emptying the trash cans, washing the dishes in the sink, and cleaning the restrooms.
  • Maintains patient confidence and protects operations by keeping patient information confidential.
  • Serves and protects the physician or health care provider practice by adhering to professional standards, policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements, and Convenient Urgent Care standards.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
  • Enhances health care practice reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
  • Assists in clinic opening and closing duties related to clean up
