Middle School Learning Specialist

Reports to: Head of Middle School
FLSA: Exempt full time

Salary Range: $65,000 to $90,000 annually, commensurate with education and experience
Responsibilities:
- Teach grade level small groups of students with documented learning disabilities: reading, writing, organization and critical thinking strategies to help support their academic course work
- Teach 5th grade study skills class once a rotation.
- Supervise and coordinate accommodations and outside-of-school supports, which include professionals such as tutors, evaluators, and physicians.
- Assist and communicate frequently/weekly with families and faculty to ensure the learning needs are understood and supported.
- Support the students and division by covering study halls, lunch duties, and other assignments as needed.
- Perform other school duties as required as a member of the middle school community.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Master’s degree
- A minimum of 2 years of experience with Middle School students
- Knowledge of learning disabilities.
- A commitment to using research and innovative teaching practices and technology to enhance instruction.
- A demonstrated enthusiasm for working with adolescent learners, a strong sense of school community and teamwork, and excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Experience in teaching with technology, especially with Google and Smartboard platforms.
- Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communications skills
- Proficient with current educational technology, especially blended learning platforms and strategies.
- Positive team player with a desire to contribute and share your gifts and talents with the students and administration of the school.
- Knowledge of, appreciation for, and demonstrated commitment to anti-racist, anti-bias education, multicultural teaching, and culturally responsive pedagogy.
- Flexible and can adapt to changes with schedules and student needs.
- An energetic team player, organized, innovative, and self-motivated.
