Industrial / OT Network Engineer - 6 Month Contract | West Houston
We are currently seeking an OT Network Cybersecurity Engineer for a 6 month contract with a leading oil & gas client in West Houston . This role is a unique opportunity to secure and commission OT hardware and networks while working with cutting-edge industrial control system (ICS) cybersecurity technologies .
Key Responsibilities
OT Cybersecurity Implementation :
Design, implement, and maintain cybersecurity controls for OT networks following IEC 62443, NIST, and NERC-CIP standards.
Conduct risk assessments and manage vulnerabilities within ICS and SCADA environments.
Implement network segmentation, firewalls, and secure remote access for OT systems.
Commissioning & Network Integration :
Commission, configure, and troubleshoot OT hardware , including HMI systems, industrial instruments, and edge devices .
Work with MQTT brokers and clients for secure industrial data communication.
Set up peer-to-peer (P2P) communication between field devices and control systems.
Protocol & System Management :
Configure and secure industrial communication protocols (MQTT, OPC UA, Modbus, Profinet, Ethernet / IP).
Implement secure remote access solutions while ensuring compliance with OT security best practices.
Manage firewalls, intrusion detection systems (IDS), and security monitoring within the OT network.
Incident Response & Compliance :
Monitor, detect, and respond to cybersecurity threats in OT environments.
Ensure compliance with industry regulations and cybersecurity frameworks.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to train personnel on OT security best practices.
Qualifications & Skills
Required :
3-7 years of experience in OT cybersecurity, industrial networking, or ICS security .
Strong knowledge of OT network security principles, segmentation, and risk management .
Hands-on experience commissioning OT hardware (HMI, MQTT, field instruments).
Familiarity with SCADA, PLCs, DCS, and industrial control systems .
Experience with industrial firewalls, IDS / IPS, and VPNs .
Knowledge of MQTT-based communication and data security best practices .
