Position : Oncology Clinical Pharmacy Specialist
Hours : Full-time, Monday – Friday (Day Shift)
Job Description :
This clinical role will support physician order management as well as align with the EPIC Beacon model for an additional clinical pharmacist SME (Subject Matter Expert) mirroring the Dana Farber collaboration recommendation.
The Clinical Oncology Pharmacy Specialist position is essential in proactively working on diminishing the drug cost as well as improving patient safety and outcomes, as the price of cancer care and drug costs are rising considerably on annual basis.
Job Requirements :
Valid Registered Pharmacist license for the State of Connecticut.
Minimum Education - Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy.
Profound knowledge of pharmacology and medical terminology.
Strong technical aptitude.
Exceptional problem-solving abilities.
Effective communication prowess.
Leadership experience is very desirable
The Clinical Oncology Pharmacist Specialist will also enhance financial initiatives through :
Optimization of cost
Formulary management
Drug shortage management for oncology agents.
Effective treatment regimens and of 340b program.
Biosimilars optimization with an estimated overall 10-30% drug cost savings.
Optimization of utilization of supportive therapy
Optimization of location for chemotherapy administration (inpatient vs outpatient) to maximize revenue and reimbursement.
Supporting clinical services through policy implementation to ensure proper clinical management and enhanced throughput.
Implement medication safety initiatives to provide safe care and mitigate risk.
Support the Dana Farber Collaboration model for Epic validation and protocol collection in the TPC committee, which will remove the responsibility for data collection from the oncologists thereby increasing more office time with patients.
Support oncology physicians in evidence-based and cost-effective treatment choices for patients as well as mitigating overutilization.
Implement universal dose rounding cost-savings for all chemotherapy and oncology biotherapy.
Candidates must either have clinical experience in an oncology practice setting or be a new grad that has completed an oncology residency / fellowship .
