Our Database Engineering Team is seeking a skilled MS-SQL Database Engineer to provide database production support in a fast-paced operations environment supporting business-critical applications. This role requires deep expertise in MS-SQL database platforms, ensuring optimal performance, security, and scalability.
As a Database Engineer, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software developers, data analysts, and system administrators, to deliver efficient and reliable database solutions. Your expertise in SQL programming, database architecture, and troubleshooting will be critical in optimizing performance and resolving complex technical issues.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide production support for MS-SQL databases in a high-availability environment.
- Install, configure, and migrate MS-SQL database platforms.
- Optimize database performance through query tuning and server optimization.
- Automate regular processes, track issues, and document changes.
- Troubleshoot real-time production issues by leveraging a deep understanding of MS-SQL internals and optimizer functions.
- Deploy and support database objects in production and test environments.
- Write and maintain complex PowerShell scripts for database maintenance.
- Lead and execute large-scale database migration projects.
- Implement and maintain standard database monitoring solutions.
- Ensure database security and compliance with industry standards.
- Support high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) technologies.
- Provide 24x7 production on-call support on a rotational basis.
Required Skills & Experience:
- 7 years of experience as a Production Support Database Administrator (DBA).
- Strong hands-on experience with MS-SQL Server administration.
- Expertise in database performance tuning, troubleshooting, and query optimization.
- Proficiency in PowerShell scripting for automation and database maintenance.
- Experience with SQL platform migrations to industry-standard versions.
- Familiarity with Ansible automation (preferred).
- Exposure to other database platforms such as Sybase, PostgreSQL, or NoSQL (MongoDB) (preferred).
- Strong understanding of data security and compliance with industry standards.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
