Ministry Function
The AVL Technician supports the ministry of Convoy of Hope by being responsible for the setup, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of audio, video, and lighting systems in all conference rooms and training rooms and for events, productions, and installations. This role requires technical expertise, creative problem-solving, and the ability to work in fast-paced environments to ensure seamless execution of projects. The AVL Technician will need to be proactive to ensure all meeting spaces are equipped, functional, and ready to support seamless virtual and in-person meetings.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Ensures all conference rooms are fully functional with audio, video, and lighting systems, including cameras, microphones, speakers, TVs, and control panels.
- Performs regular testing and calibration of conference room equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Assists team members and guests with using conference room technologies.
- Sets up AV equipment for meetings, presentations, and events, ensuring smooth operation to meet the needs of that space for the applicable meeting.
- Operates meetings in training rooms or auditoriums as needed.
- Performs maintenance of audio and video equipment, including firmware and software updates, preventive maintenance, execution of warranty return merchandise authorizations, accurate inventory and lifecycles, and regular cleaning and storage organization.
- Runs cabling, load in, and strike for auditorium stage for weekly gatherings.
- Designs and programs lighting for weekly gatherings and events.
- Develops and maintain relationships with lighting equipment manufacturers and Convoy’s key AV vendor.
- Programs ProPresenter and LED content.
- Provides support for the IT help desk and assists in managing gear-related deployments.
- Provides AVL and conferencing support remotely to our global offices.
- Maintains a high level of working technical knowledge of all lighting equipment and regularly researches new trends and products.
- Maintains video infrastructure on campus, including conference rooms, LED displays, digital signage, and video switchers and video routers.
- Fulfills other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- A bachelor’s degree is A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Two or more years of experience as an AVL Technician or in a similar role is required.
- Two or more years of experience as a Lighting Designer is preferred.
- Experience working with Q-SYS, GrandMA3, Disguise, and ProPresenter is preferred.
- Knowledge of MA2, MA3, sACN, Art-Net, Ross technologies (Carbonite, Ultrix, and Dashboard), AJA, Visionary Solutions, and Zoom Video Conferencing technologies is preferred.
- Occasional travel to Convoy of Hope’s Regional Distribution Centers may be required.
- Some nights and weekends to support event requirements will be required.
- Displays strong customer service skills, interpersonal communication skills, and attention to detail.
- Is confident and outgoing, with a strong emphasis on customer satisfaction.
- Exhibits ability to clearly explain complicated and detailed processes in a concise and simple way when supporting team members.
- Demonstrates a deep understanding of AVL systems and troubleshooting.
- Exhibits ability to self-motivate, take initiative, and problem-solve.
- Displays understanding of IT networks and IT infrastructure.
- Possesses ability to successfully multitask with speed, accuracy, and efficiency, completing each project within time deadlines.
- Attends and actively participates in Convoy of Hope At Home Week meetings and activities as a required responsibility to the organization and fellow team members.
- Serves as an advocate for the ministry, striving to nurture, broaden, and develop financial and other resource opportunities to support and expand organizational and program ministry.
- Positively represents the ministry of Convoy of Hope, including its mission statement and core values, to all outside constituencies.
- As a Christian organization, Convoy of Hope believes it is critical that team members embrace the organization’s religious purposes for which it exists and not only agree with its Statement of Faith but demonstrate it in their lives on an ongoing basis.
