Ministry Function
The Center for Agriculture & Food Security (CAFS) Team Assistant supports the ministry of Convoy of Hope by assisting the CAFS Team/Global Program Working Group in special projects and assigned tasks.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Under the direction of the Senior Director of CAFS:
- Creates foundational CAFS Resource Bank.
- Creates base elements and templates for CAFS Agriculture Bulletins to be published for public use.
- Sorts and gathers appropriate agriculture information through web and literature reviews.
- Participates and/or leads in field work tasks as directed by the Senior Director of CAFS.
- Resources supplies for CAFS.
- All other duties assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Experience with livestock management and handling techniques, farm machinery operation, crop management, and harvest is required.
- Experience working with a farm operation and performing duties such as fence building, maintenance, crop production, and livestock vaccination is required.
- A valid motor vehicle operator's license is required.
- Possesses ability to positively contribute to team projects, cooperate with team members, and assist with planning and evaluation.
- Displays good written communication skills for creating, editing, and proofreading correspondence.
- Demonstrates strong organizational skills, detail orientation, and follow-through.
- Demonstrates ability to multitask, solve problems, and manage deadlines.
- Possesses proficiency with PC and software programs, including but not limited to Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Is able to lift and carry livestock, farm supplies, and equipment weighing fifty pounds or more on a regular basis.
- Possesses the ability for prolonged walking or standing, frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, and reaching. Requires a full range of physical motion to operate manual, electrically powered, and gasoline-powered equipment and machines. Can move throughout assigned areas, as the work is often performed outdoors year-round.
- Attends and actively participates in Convoy of Hope At Home Week meetings and activities as a required responsibility to the organization and fellow team members.
- Serves as an advocate for the ministry, striving to nurture, broaden, and develop financial and other resource opportunities to support and expand organizational and program ministry.
- Positively represents the ministry of Convoy of Hope, including its mission statement and core values, to all outside constituencies.
- As a Christian organization, Convoy of Hope believes it is critical that team members embrace the organization's religious purposes for which it exists and not only agree with its Statement of Faith but demonstrate it in their lives on an ongoing basis.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
This is a 28 hour per week, temporary position is approved to work for 6 months.
