Ministry Function
The Community Events Outreach Director supports the ministry of Convoy of Hope by facilitating all phases of outreaches in cities across the United States, including event planning and regional trainings. This director serves the organization as a credentialed minister, speaks on behalf of the organization at churches and conferences, administers sacraments, and conducts religious worship.
Ministerial Responsibilities
- On the field, as a representative of both Convoy of Hope and Convoy’s partner ministries, provides regular devotional teaching and prayer for Convoy of Hope workers.
- Provides spiritual counseling to Convoy of Hope team members and volunteers.
- Performs sacerdotal functions as requested by Convoy of Hope team members, volunteers, or others, both at the Convoy of Hope offices and on the field.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Directs approximately 10 to 15 engagements per calendar year, including regional trainings where appropriate.
- Secures new engagement sites through building relationships.
- Recruits and trains new Engagement team members and assists in ongoing development training initiatives.
- Works directly with the Community Events Connections Director on Connections initiatives in event cities.
- Assists the organization with advancement initiatives and other duties as requested.
- Fulfills all other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- A bachelor’s degree and/or prior compassion ministry experience is preferred.
- Five or more years of demonstrated leadership of teams and coordination of large events is required.
- Is an ordained, commissioned, or licensed minister with church ministry experience.
- Demonstrates leadership and organization skills at the level needed to effectively lead a team of diverse individuals and manage details for large events.
- Possesses ability to use a PC and software programs, including but not limited to Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Attends and actively participates in Convoy of Hope At Home Week meetings and activities as a required responsibility to the organization and fellow team members.
- Serves as an advocate for the ministry, striving to nurture, broaden, and develop financial and other resource opportunities to support and expand organizational and program ministry.
- Positively represents the ministry of Convoy of Hope, including its mission statement and core values, to all outside constituencies.
- As a Christian organization, Convoy of Hope believes it is critical that team members embrace the organization’s religious purposes for which it exists and not only agree with its Statement of Faith but demonstrate it in their lives on an ongoing basis.
Supervisory Responsibilities
In the office, the Outreach Director may provide guidance to office volunteers as needed. In the field, the Outreach Director directly supervises teams of individual outreach leaders and indirectly supervises thousands of volunteers.
