Ministry Function
The Junior Web Developer supports the ministry of Convoy of Hope by assisting the Digital Product Team in maintaining and enhancing Convoy’s marketing websites and web applications and by participating in development projects.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Assists in maintaining and updating existing websites, web applications, and APIs used by donors, volunteers, partners, and internal Convoy of Hope staff.
- Manages and updates content through WordPress and other content management systems.
- Learns and implements testing practices (unit/integration/E2E) to ensure code quality.
- Helps maintain documentation to provide clarity and consistency of implementation.
- Collaborates with the Digital Product Team on technical solutions while learning best practices and development patterns.
- Participates in code reviews to improve code quality and expand technical knowledge.
- Supports more senior developers in implementing new features and fixing bugs.
- Assists with other duties as needed.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- One of the following is preferred:
- College degree in computer science
- Completion of an accredited coding boot camp
- Demonstration of dedicated self-study in web technologies
- Two years of professional web development experience or equivalent education/internship/portfolio experience is required.
- A basic proficiency in HTML, CSS, and Javascript is preferred.
- Experience with WordPress or similar content management system (CMS) platforms is preferred.
- Demonstrates understanding of responsive design principles and mobile-first development.
- Possesses basic understanding of Convoy of Hope tech stack (React, Node.js, PHP) with willingness to learn more.
- Displays familiarity with modern git development/deployment workflows.
- Is coachable, engaged, and willing to learn new technologies or languages as organizational needs change and the tech stack evolves.
- Possesses ability to use PC/Mac and software programs.
- Exhibits strong organization skills, attention to detail, and the ability to concentrate in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrates ability to successfully multitask, efficiently and accurately completing each project within time deadlines.
- Attends and actively participates in Convoy of Hope At Home Week meetings and activities as a required responsibility to the organization and fellow team members.
- Serves as an advocate for the ministry, striving to nurture, broaden, and develop financial and other resource opportunities to support and expand organizational and program ministry.
- Positively represents the ministry of Convoy of Hope, including its mission statement and core values, to all outside constituencies.
- As a Christian organization, Convoy of Hope believes it is critical that team members embrace the organization’s religious purposes for which it exists and not only agree with its Statement of Faith but demonstrate it in their lives on an ongoing basis.
