Ministry Function
The Warehouse Assistant supports the ministry of Convoy of Hope by overseeing warehouse functions and making safety a top priority in all situations.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Properly receives product, unloads trucks, and places product into inventory.
- Properly handles outbound product, stages loads, and loads trucks.
- Manages and develops warehouse staff and volunteers.
- Oversees proper organization of warehouse facility, e., trash disposal, warehouse, equipment, and parking lot function.
- Develops and analyzes warehouse reporting.
- Assists in selecting appropriate product for outbound loads.
- Operates forklifts and various pieces of equipment for warehouse operations.
- Maintains an exceptional level of sanitation and maintenance for warehouse and equipment.
- Assists with Hope Crew projects.
- Follows general and equipment-specific safety rules. Uses appropriate safety protection equipment and other safety devices.
- Fulfills other duties as requested.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is preferred. A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Five or more years of warehouse experience is required.
- Two or more years of supervisory experience is required.
- Forklift certification and the ability to drive other warehouse equipment is required.
- A current Commercial Driver’s License Class B license is required.
- Knowledge and experience with Warehouse Management Systems is preferred.
- Positively contributes to team projects, cooperates with team members, and assists supervisors in planning and evaluation.
- Demonstrates the ability to periodically lift 50 pounds or more.
- Possesses strong leadership and motivational skills needed for effectively supervising team members.
- Attends and actively participates in Convoy of Hope At Home Week meetings and activities as a required responsibility to the organization and fellow team members.
- Serves as an advocate for the ministry, striving to nurture, broaden, and develop financial and other resource opportunities to support and expand organizational and program ministry.
- Positively represents the ministry of Convoy of Hope, including its mission statement and core values, to all outside constituencies.
- As a Christian organization, Convoy of Hope believes it is critical that team members embrace the organization’s religious purposes for which it exists and not only agree with its Statement of Faith but demonstrate it in their lives on an ongoing basis.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position regularly supervises warehouse staff and volunteers.
