Ministry Function
The Transportation Manager supports the ministry of Convoy of Hope by executing the transportation plan, communicating relevant details, and ensuring timely pickup and delivery of all loads.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Dispatches Convoy of Hope equipment and for-hire transportation providers.
- Manages Convoy of Hope shipments by executing the quote, tender, track, and problem resolution processes.
- Manages shipment expenses through optimized mode selection and transportation provider selection.
- Encourages volunteer participation in taking loads.
- Maintains relationships with volunteer drivers and for-hire providers.
- Maintains shipment activity boards for visibility to primary stakeholders.
- Schedules pickup and delivery appointments.
- Manages pickups and deliveries with contractors and Convoy of Hope drivers.
- Enters data and prepares reporting for all domestic transportation requests.
- Innovates new processes and procedures that make Convoy of Hope better in executing transportation needs.
- Fulfills other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- A bachelor’s degree is preferred.
- Two or more years of truckload or LTL transportation experience is required.
- Exhibits strong computer skills, including but not limited to Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Demonstrates strong organizational skills and ability to handle concurrent multiple job tasks.
- Displays excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Possesses experience working with confidential material.
- Demonstrates ability to exercise good judgment.
- Attends and actively participates in Convoy of Hope At Home Week meetings and activities as a required responsibility to the organization and fellow team members.
- Serves as an advocate for the ministry, striving to nurture, broaden, and develop financial and other resource opportunities to support and expand organizational and program ministry.
- Positively represents the ministry of Convoy of Hope, including its mission statement and core values, to all outside constituencies.
- As a Christian organization, Convoy of Hope believes it is critical that team members embrace the organization’s religious purposes for which it exists and not only agree with its Statement of Faith but demonstrate it in their lives on an ongoing basis.
