What are the responsibilities and job description for the Central Sterile Tech position at Conway Regional?
Responsible for the operational functions of Central Sterile and Central Supply, including, but not limited to, supervising the activities of the department’s personnel, educating and training of the CSR technicians, adhering to budgetary guidelines, working with patient care managers to promote quality patient care and having concern for appropriate utilization of resources. Develops and ensures conformance with policies and procedures related to the handling and sterilization, cleaning, maintenance, storage and assembly of patient care equipment and instruments. Coordinates supply, special orders, and instrument repair with Materials Management and OR Materials Management.
SAFETY SENSITIVE POSITION:
This position is a designated as “Safety Sensitive Position” under Act 593 of the State of Arkansas. An employee who is under the influence of Marijuana constitutes a threat to patients/customers which Conway Regional is responsible for in providing and supporting the delivery health care related services.
Qualifications
- Proof of high school or equivalent or higher education
- Associate Degree or graduate of accredited Central Service Technician School. Preferred
- Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) from the International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management (IAHCSMM), or equivalent.
- Previous experience as Supervisor or Manager in Sterile Processing preferred or minimum 3 years related experience in a sterile processing, operating room, central sterile or similar setting, including at least 2 years in a supervisory capacity whose role encompassed the operation and oversight of all sterile processing functions.
- Thorough knowledge of supplies and equipment used in field of central processing, storage, care, maintenance procedures; dealing with vendors and purchasing procedures.
- Scrub Tech Experience, Preferred
