Job Description:
The Transition Educator is a full-time exempt year-round salaried position devoted to managing our school based transition services for students with disabilities in the Roaring Fork Valley. This position will oversee school-based transition services that support students with disabilities from Bridges High School, Glenwood High School, Basalt High School, Roaring Fork High School, Yampah Rebound and Aspen High School. During the summer time, this position will help assist with the Summer Inclusive Internship Program that serves students across the valley.
Heavy collaboration with the Transition Director, Education Coordinator, Vocational Director and Director of Therapeutic Recreation during the school year to ensure each student can access employment year round. The Transition Educator reports to the Transition Director and will be responsible for communicating with the client, clients family, DVR unit, employment site, and school district to dictate when, where, what, and how services are conducted.
Job Duties:
- Provide school based DVR support in Self Advocacy, Job Prep and Development, Job Exploration, Job Place Readiness and Post-Secondary Counseling collaboratively alongside special educators 4 days a week in Basalt High School, Roaring Fork High School, Bridges High School, Glenwood High School, Yampah Rebound and Aspen High School.
- Attend IEP and Transition Meetings to ensure DVR goals are met and included on student plans.
- Plan and implement a variety of classroom activities that are both classroom bound and community based.
- 1 day a week for team meetings, class planning, evaluation and documentation.
- Adjust work and transition plans as needed to ensure maximum client growth.
- During the summer programming, assist with the Summer Inclusive Internship Program that serves students across the valley
- 1:1 Job Coaching services with clients with disabilities as needed.
- Other duties as assigned by the Transition Director or Executive Director
Who we are looking for:
- A passion for serving the disabled queer community
- Experience in providing transition support services to students with disabilities.
- Degree in Special Education, Recreation Therapy, Human Services, Vocational Rehab, Business, Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Disability Studies or related field. 4 years of equivalent experience in the disability and/or employment services highly considered.
- Completed background check and clear driving record
- High organizational and communication skills
- Ability to effectively work in google business and zoom
- English Proficiency
- Advanced Spanish AND/OR American Sign Language understanding prioritized. Other languages considered. Applicants without this are still encouraged to apply but would need to be open to attending classes to strengthen skills.
- This position is based in the Roaring Fork Valley of Colorado and travel is regularly required
Compensation/Benefits:
- $55,000-$62,000 Starting Salary

Salary : $55,000 - $62,000
