Job Title: Group Facilitator/ Cultural Mentor

General Functions:
The Group Facilitator & Cultural Mentor provides direct support to participants in Family Wellness parenting groups, aiming to strengthen responsible parenting by enhancing knowledge, skills, and attitudes that promote the safety and well-being of children. This role involves collaborative planning and co-facilitating learning experiences, combining didactic instruction with hands-on skill development and group discussions based on the designated curriculum. The focus is on fostering responsible parenting, self-sufficiency, and family stability. The Group Facilitator /Cultural Mentor will also design and lead community-based cultural activities that emphasize family connection and resilience, incorporating traditional practices such as subsistence-related tasks.
Duties and Responsibilities, including but not limited to:
- Provide group and individual didactic teaching/modeling of skills and facilitate group processing to promote child growth/development, safety, home structure/management, community access, peer connection and social skills.
- Foster participant’s skill development by observing patterns of behavior; explaining and pointing out new options and demonstrating and practicing new skills as necessary.
- Assist participants by providing relevant information regarding available services and resources.
- Maintain professional interactions with participants and community collaborators.
- Provide transportation for parents and children to outdoor cultural events, which may require extended travel.
- Coordinate educational, practical application and activities with the Program Manager and other Family Wellness or organization staff.
- Obtain required information by interviewing participants and facilitating surveys.
- Maintain program documentation of required data collection forms, data entry and monitor data completion/accuracy.
- Coordinate effective delivery of services and outcome evaluation with Family Wellness Sr. Director and Program Manager.
- Maintain organization compliance by submitting monthly, quarterly, and annual statistical reports.
- Maintain operations by following policies and procedures, participating in quality reviews, and reporting needed changes.
- Comply with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on needed actions.
- Conduct related surveys and assessments to coordinate service delivery among CITC services and to monitor and report on program outputs and outcomes.
- Maintains confidentiality according to regulations and procedures.
- Perform all related duties as needed and assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Arts or Sciences in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or related field. Relevant experience may substitute for the education requirement on a year-for- year basis.
- One year of experience in the delivery of educational and supportive group services.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the social, health, educational, training, and cultural needs of the Alaska Native and American Indian community.
- Continued employment is contingent upon receipt of satisfactory reports from a state and federal background check.
- Valid Alaska driver’s license and insurable under CITC’s automotive insurance, which requires a driver to be at least 21 years of age and have had a driver’s license for at least three years.
Physical Requirements:
- Works in an office setting with extended periods of time at a desk and on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to participate in subsistence and outdoor activities such as fishing (snag, dipnet, and set net), hiking (easy to intermediate trails), and foraging for berries and plants.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience working in a non-profit or social- services setting.
