Job Title:         Case Management and Peer Support Supervisor, R&R 

Department:   Recovery and Reentry 

Reports To:     Operations Manager/Senior Operations Manager, Outpatient Services

Supervises:      Outpatient Service’s Case Managers, Peer Navigators, & Treatment Team Peers

FLSA Status:   Exempt 

Pay Grade:       E5 

Job Type:         Full-Time, Regular

General Functions

The Case Management and Peer Support Supervisor oversees and leads the case management and peer support teams within Outpatient Services. These services provide comprehensive support to participants across CITC’s continuum of care. This role is responsible for supervising assigned staff, ensuring services are delivered accurately and align with CITC’s treatment philosophy. Additionally, the supervisor supports the Recovery and Reentry Department in maintaining compliance with State, Federal, and CARF standards, as well as adhering to grant requirements. This position will also be expected to provide direct services.

 

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Recruit, interview and hire team members. 
  • Provide leadership by inspiring, guiding and motivating teams. 
  • Create an environment that fosters employee engagement and satisfaction. 
  • Identify training needs, provide opportunities for learning and growth and support the professional development of team members. 
  • Evaluate performance of team members to include providing feedback, coaching, mentoring and conducting performance appraisals. 
  • Communicate with staff through facilitation of regular staff meetings and one-on-one supervisions.
  • Support management in the development, revision, and maintenance of the applicable programs’ operating policies and procedures, as needed. 
  • Maintain a safe environment of care and ensure compliance with health and safety standards and policies.   
  • Ensure a complete orientation schedule is created and adhered to for new-hire training, to include relevant staff competencies.  
  • Oversee and support consistency in the Department’s philosophy of care and service delivery. 
  • Oversee and support relevant documentation in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) for content and timeliness, to include review and approval of such documentation. 
  • Ensure that clinical staff caseloads are filled and maintained to meet utilization targets and grant requirements. 
  • Identify emergency issues and respond appropriately.  
  • Assist in providing information for grants and department reports. 
  • Maintain an active presence and availability in outpatient office for participant and staff needs. 
  • Participate in weekly case staffing to review participant progress, transitional planning needs, and treatment plan updates with the larger treatment team. 
  • Fulfill responsibilities during staff vacancies. 
  • Work cohesively with other supervisors, managers, and contractors to ensure the unit's quality of care.   
  • Attend off-site, staff, and other department meetings. 
  • Maintain confidentiality according to all state and federal regulations and procedures, including 42 CFR Part 2 and HIPAA. 
  • Dedicate 10% of the hours worked to direct service delivery. 
  • Other duties as needed and assigned. 

 

Job Specifications:

  • Demonstrated ability to supervise staff and offer effective clinical direction. 
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, and Outlook. 
  • Strong competency in addictions and knowledge of ASAM criteria and application. 
  • Strong competence, knowledge, and understanding of addiction and co-occurring disorders. 
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate group and individual services. 
  • Demonstrated ability to provide case management services in various settings (EG: office, community, outpatient/residential) in support of various levels of participant acuity. 
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise and coordinate delivery of services for multiple participants simultaneously. 
  • Demonstrable knowledge of delivering trauma-informed care services. 
  • Ability to work with diverse populations with multiple barriers. 

 

Job Responsibilities Related to Participant Privacy 

  • Employee is expected to actively participate in CITC privacy training and to protect the privacy of participant information in accordance with CITC's privacy policies, procedures, and practices, as required by federal and state law.  Failure to comply with CITC's policies and procedures on participant privacy may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment. 
  • Employee may access protected health information and other participant information only to the extent necessary to complete job duties. Employee may only share such information on a need-to-know basis with others who have job responsibilities related to treatment, payment, or other CITC operations. 
  • Employee is encouraged and expected to report, without the threat of retaliation, any concerns regarding CITC's policies and procedures on participant privacy and any observed practices in violation of the policy to the designated Privacy Officer. 

 

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Sociology, Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, or a closely related field.  
  • Three (3) years of experience providing direct services in the field of behavioral health, to include support of individuals recovering from challenges relating to substance use disorders. 
  • One (1) year of supervisory experience in the behavioral health field overseeing a team of  4 plus direct-care staff. 
  • Alaska Chemical Dependency Counselor Certification I (CDC I), Traditional Peer Support Associate I (TPSA I) or Peer Support Professional I (PSP I) through the Alaska Commission for Behavioral Health Certification, at time of hire. 
  • Obtain Qualified Addiction Professional (QAP) approval within (3) three years of the Provisional Provider Application approval date with the State of Alaska. 
  • Proof of completion of an Introduction to Peer Support Course (37.5 hours ) approved by the Department of Behavioral Health at time of hire or completed within 12 months of start date. 
  • Continued employment is contingent upon completion of a satisfactory state and federal fingerprint background check, approved National Provider Identifier Standard (NPI) status, and state approval as a Qualified Addictions Professional (QAP). 
  • Valid Alaska driver’s license and insurable under CITC’s automotive insurance, which requires a driver to be at least 21 years of age and has had a driver’s license for at least three years.  
  • Continued employment is contingent upon approved National Provider Identifier Standard (NPI) status, ability to be credentialled with CMS and other insurance carriers, and state approval as a Qualified Addictions Professional (QAP).
  • CPR certified or able to obtain within 3 months of hire.

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Master’s degree in social work, psychology, human services, or a closely related field.
  • Three (3) years of experience in a supervisory capacity.
  • CDC II, CDC-S, PSA II, PSA III, TPSA II, or TPSA III certifications through the Alaska Commission for Behavioral Health Certification.
  • Dual certifications as a CDC and as a peer support associate.

 

Physical Requirements:  

  • Primarily works in an office setting, with extended periods of time at a desk and on a computer.
