Overview

The Inventory Controller is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of inventory within the company, ensuring accurate and timely records, optimizing stock levels, and minimizing inventory-related costs. This role requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Inventory Management:
  • Maintain accurate inventory records across all locations, including raw materials, internal assemblies, and consumables.
  • Conduct regular cycle counts and physical inventories to ensure accuracy and identify discrepancies.
  • Develops employee awareness and competencies relating to cycle counting, inventory control and contingency planning.
  • Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies, including shortages, overages, and damages.
  • Implement and maintain inventory control procedures and best practices to minimize losses and improve efficiency.
  • Analyze inventory levels and trends to identify areas for improvement and optimize stock levels.
  • Develop and implement inventory forecasting and planning strategies to meet demand and minimize stockouts.
  • Order Fulfillment:
  • Coordinate with the procurement department as needed to ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment.
  • Monitor inventory levels to ensure sufficient stock to meet customer demand and production schedules.
  • Collaborate with production and sales teams to ensure smooth inventory flow and timely delivery.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting:
  • Generate and analyze inventory reports.
  • Prepare and present reports to management on inventory performance and key metrics.
  • Identify and analyze trends and patterns in inventory data to inform decision-making.
  • System Maintenance:
    • Maintain and update inventory management systems with accurate and timely data.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve system issues related to inventory management.
    • Assist in the implementation and integration of new inventory management technologies.
    • Continuous Improvement:
      • Continuously evaluate and propose potential improvements to inventory control processes and procedures.
      • Identify and implement cost-saving measures related to inventory management.
      • Stay abreast of industry best practices and emerging technologies in inventory management.
    Qualifications

    Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
    • 5 years of experience in inventory control or a related field.

    Qualification Requirements

    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Excellent data analysis and reporting skills
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other inventory management software
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
    • Detail-oriented and organized
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
    • Experience with ERP and/or WMS systems preferred

    Physical Requirements

    • Sitting for extended periods, utilizes close visual acuity for working with computers, etc.
    • Works under general office environmental conditions
    • Frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to grasp, carry, feel or touch; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear
    • This position is a hybrid position, which requires regular on-site visits, up to 2-3 times per week
    • Must reside within a reasonable distance, within a 1 hour radius via car, of Cook Medical in Bloomington, Indiana
